Description
Funds to support the exploration systems development division. The exploration systems development (ESD) division has requested aerospace to provide technical and programmatic analysis, consultation and evaluation in support of NASA s exploration enterprise. This support will include assistance with integrated cost and schedule development/assessment activities as well as systems engineering and integration (SE & i) activities for integrated exploration systems and missions. Specific assignments will be directed by ESD and will specify in which programmatic or technical areas aerospace is to focus its resources. Aerospace will provide subject matter experts, and perform independent analyses, as requested, in support of the government's decisions. The level of fidelity for independent assessments will be tailored according to the information and time available. Priorities and schedules will be established by mutual agreement between ESD and aerospace. Support to integrated cost and schedule development/assessment activities include but are not limited to: . Budget evaluation and assessment . Cost and schedule risk data validation with historical data. . Identification of major cost and schedule risk drivers . Joint cost and schedule confidence level (JCL) methodology development and assessment . Targeted use of aerospace programmatic assessment processes and tools to enhance, supplement, or validate ESD processes support to SE & i activities may include but are not limited to: . Vehicle environments . Loads, dynamics and structures . Hardware systems and subsystems . Ground and flight software . Guidance, navigation and control . Mission analysis . Flight safety and crew rating . Mission, system and hardware risk . Launch vehicle, payload/spacecraft and ground systems integration . Manufacturing, assembly, processing and operations . Ground command, control, communication . Range systems operations and integration in addition to focused assessments, aerospace will provide the following advisory services for ESD: a. Provide personnel and expertise necessary to perform on-site NASA HQ support and other requested services, and participate in reviews and meetings b. Collaborate with NASA civil servants and support contractors c. Participate in major government and contractor program reviews and provide technical advice regarding designs, production, integration, readiness, risk, overall systems analyses, and programmatic issues d. Participate in recurring NASA and contractor teleconferences e. Participate in technical interchange meetings in support of specific issues when aerospace is involved in the assessment/resolution of that issue.
