About this award
This is a task order under a larger contract awarded by the NASA Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC) to Jacobs Technology Inc., a subsidiary of Jacobs Engineering Group Inc. The contract is for aerostructures and electrical test and instrumentation support for the AFRC's Flight Loads Laboratory, which conducts structural testing and research for advanced aerospace vehicles. The work involves engineering, technical, and specialized labor support for measuring flight loads, thermal analysis, and structural health monitoring of airframe concepts. The task order has a ceiling value of $6,211,149.00 and a performance period through January 31, 2018. The contract does not have a set-aside designation and was awarded as a cost-plus-award-fee task order.
Description
Task order no. NND15RR03T aerostructures/electrical test and instrumentation the aerostructures organization at the NASA armstrong flight research center (AFRC) includes the flight loads laboratory (FLL). The FLL is a unique national laboratory in which structural tests are conducted in support flight research and structures programs and projects. The FLL provides expertise in test design, test operations, load and stress analysis, thermal analysis, instrumentation, and systems development. Contractor is to support the aerostructures branch (code RS). Under subtask 1 and 2, the aerostructures branch conducts research in the areas of flight loads measurements and loading, heating, and cooling of structural components for use in the development of advanced aerospace vehicles. Engineers, technicians, mechanics, and specialists are required to perform the following tasks for the measurement of loads and thermal data, the design of test fixtures, and the conduct of FLL operations. Under subtask 3, the aerostructures branch develops capability to determine the structural health of advanced airframe concepts subjected to a variety of thermal/mechanical loading environments. New structural health monitoring (SHM) sensor/system concepts, such as fiber optic and optical pyrometry measurement approaches are developed and evaluated.
