Description
Recovery task order no. NND10GH24T this task will be funded with american recovery reinvestment act of 2009 funds. NASA dryden flight research center (DFRC) is participating in the integration, and preparation for flight tests of the global ozone lidar demonstrator (GOLD) instrument on the NASA global hawk (GH) aircraft. The GOLD instrument is too large for the original global hawk lower radome and requires an alternate radome configuration. Also, the GOLD instrument requires a system, known as a liquid cooling system (LCS), which removes excess heat from the instrument. Northrop grumman corporation (NGC) designed and built an alternate radome and a LCS in support of a proposed payload for a project that was not completed. The alternate radome, which is compatible with the GOLD instrument, has already been acquired by DFRC for use with a different scientific instrument. The LCS system that NGC has already built is similar in many technical respects with the LCS required for GOLD. This task covers the acquisition of that liquid cooling system (LCS).
