Description
The investigation to be done shall be performed in three parts. In the first part, the contractor shall perform an analysis to identify the structural load state of rotorcraft gears operating under full torque and power density. In the second part, the contractor shall utilize the results of the first task to define a multi-axial test RIG that could be used to apply quasi-static loads to a gear-like test article in order to simulate the structural loads within a gear operating under full power. The gear-like test article is anticipated to have the geometry of a real gear, excluding the gear teeth. In the third part, methods to simulate cyclic, non-steady loads in the multi-axial test RIG shall be considered.
