About this award
This is a delivery order contract awarded by the Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR) to Micro Systems, Inc., a division of Kratos Defense & Security Solutions, Inc. The contract is for the AN/DSQ-50A Miss Distance Sensor (MDS), which is an airborne component of the AN/USQ-104A Scoring System used to measure the distance between aerial or surface targets and missiles or projectiles during testing and training exercises. The $3,220,939.38 firm-fixed-price contract has a period of performance through February 2020. No set-aside was used for this award. Micro Systems, Inc. has previously been awarded multiple indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts with the Army and Navy, including a $982.1 million IDIQ for the Navy's Unmanned Surface Vehicle Family of Systems program.
Description
The an/DSQ50A miss distance sensor (MDS) of the an/ULQ-104A scoring system is an airborne set used in conjunction with the an/GSQ-228 ground set or equivalent to measure scalar miss distance between aerial or surface targets and a missile or projectile during endgame intercepts. The MDS contains the non-cooperative sensor and telemetry (TM) downlink. IT provides scoring information on passing projectiles and missiles. Narrow radio frequency (RF) pulses are generated by the sensors scoring transmitter and emitted through a scoring antenna to create an RF envelope around the target. Projectiles passing through the radiated scoring field reflect a portion of the electromagnetic energy which imparts a doppler frequency shift. The doppler information pulse code modulation (PCM) is encoded and telemetered to a ground or shipboard site to assess success of engagement. The MDS and an/GSQ-228 together form the an/USQ-104A scoring system. The an/DSQ-50A is the onboard component of the total an/USQ-104A scoring system.
