About this award

The U.S. Bureau of Reclamation awarded a $166,872.39 firm fixed-price delivery order contract to NV5 Geospatial, Inc. to provide natural color imagery, thermal infrared (IR) imagery, and related products for a leak detection study of approximately 116 miles of controlled canal reaches in the Phoenix, Yuma, Calexico, and Coachella Valley areas. This pilot study is evaluating the effectiveness of thermal IR imagery for detecting water leaks along canal reaches, with the goal of potentially expanding the use of this technology across other Reclamation regions. The contract is not set aside and is part of NV5 Geospatial's participation in larger indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contracts and blanket purchase agreements (BPAs) with federal agencies such as the U.S. Geological Survey, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, Bureau of Land Management, and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for geospatial services and data acquisition.

Description

Recovery: leak detection for controlled canal reaches using natural color and terminal IR imagery. Tracking no.8.000. . The bureau of reclamation will be acquiring natural color imagery, thermal infrared (IR) imagery, and related products to be used for a leak detection study of controlled canal reaches that IT operates in our lower colorado region. Approximately 116 miles of canal reaches in the phoenix and yuma, AZ and calexico and coachella valley, CA areas are included in this pilot study. This pilot study is being done to evaluate the effectiveness of thermal IR imagery for detection of water leaks along canal reaches. If the pilot study is successful, the use of thermal IR imagery for water leak detection will be used on canal reaches in the other reclamation regions. Products for this project shall include thermal IR and natural color orthoimagery for each canal reach that will maximize the identification of potential canal leakage.
