About this award

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) awarded a delivery order valued at $5.7 million to Acumen LLC (doing business as Medric) on January 4, 2019, under the Research Measurement Assessment Design and Analysis (RMADA) master indefinite-delivery vehicle. The contract, which was completed on March 29, 2023, tasks Acumen with providing analytical and monitoring services to support the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Innovation (CMMI) in overseeing the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) Expanded Model. Acumen's primary responsibilities include identifying and tracking suspicious billing behavior and non-compliance with MDPP policies, assessing vulnerabilities within the program that may necessitate model modifications, and monitoring overall patterns of supplier and beneficiary activity to inform policy implementation and operational decisions. The work will include monitoring MDPP suppliers against the requirements and standards established in the Calendar Year 2017 and 2018 Physician Fee Schedule Final Rules, with performance of work based in Baltimore, Maryland.

This non-set-aside delivery order follows a cost-plus-fixed-fee pricing structure, leveraging Acumen's established expertise in healthcare data analytics and program evaluation. As a longstanding federal contractor since 2003, Acumen brings substantial capabilities in complex healthcare data modeling, analysis, and technical support across multiple HHS agencies, including prior work on significant CMS initiatives such as the Transforming Episode Accountability Model and various quality measurement and payment system development projects. The contract represents one component of Acumen's broader portfolio of federal healthcare analytics work, which includes multiple large IDVs and partnerships with agencies such as the FDA, NIH, and CDC for research, surveillance, and program evaluation initiatives.
