About this award
This is a firm fixed-price delivery order awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Langley Research Center to Technosoft Inc., a for-profit Subchapter S Corporation, to provide development and support services for the Adaptive Modeling Language (AML) as part of NASA's Integrated Design and Engineering Analysis (IDEA) environment. The $249,911.34 contract will extend and enhance vehicle configuration design, aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics, propulsion systems, and airframe/engine subsystems modeling capabilities within the IDEA framework. The contract, which was not set aside for small businesses, is being performed under the NASA Information Technology Schedule 70 contract vehicle.
Description
Adaptive modeling language development and support purpose, objective, and background of work to be performed the systems analysis and concepts directorate is continuing the design and development of the integrated design and engineering analysis environment to support design efforts and system studies across multiple organizations at NASA langley the idea environment is a compilation of software modules written in the adaptive modeling language which integrates codes from multiple disciplines into a unified vehicle design and analysis capability this task shall extend and add to the capabilities of idea in the areas of vehicle configuration design layout and packaging aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics propulsion systems airframe and engine subsystems airframe and engine structural arrangement, analysis and sizing trajectory guidance navigation and control stability and control life cycle analyses cost reliability operations maintainability etc description of the work to be performed the contractor shall develop produce analyze and deliver configurations of interest incorporating modules from integrated design and engineering analysis as required to perform the following tasks extend and enhance the vehicle configuration design layout and packaging module in order to meet new needs specifically the contractor shall extend the classes of vehicle configurations to include a waverider shape employing inward turning inlets the contractor shall also continue to evolve the packaging and layout portions of the module to include variable geometry lowspeed flowpaths for this task the contractor is expected to provide periodic releases of AML modules as updates are made the contractor shall provide a final report of progress at the completion of the contracted effort update the aerodynamics and aerothermodynamics code integration modules. Specifically the contractor shall integrate several engineering methods available for the aerothermodynamic analysis of leading edges comprised of various material types for this task the contractor is expected to provide periodic releases of modules as updates are made the contractor shall provide a final report of progress at the completion of the contracted effort extend and enhance the propulsion systems modules to allow for new functionality specifically the contractor shall integrate the numerical propulsion system simulation tool with the idea framework in order to couple the lowspeed propulsion design capability with existing design modules for this task the contractor is expected to provide periodic releases of modules as updates are made the contractor shall provide a final report of progress at the completion of the contracted effort update and extend the airframe and engine subsystems modules the contractor shall integrated a series of new parametric mass and volume estimating models that have recently been developed within sacd for a variety of subsystems including actuation power and thermal management for this task the contractor is expected to provide periodic releases of modules as updates are made the contractor shall provide a final report of progress at the completion of the contracted effort
