About this award

This federal contract award supports the U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE) Versatile Test Reactor (VTR) program, which is in the early stages of developing a fast spectrum neutron test reactor capability. The contract was awarded to Leidos, Inc., a prominent professional services company that provides a wide range of critical services to the U.S. federal government. The purpose of this modification is to de-obligate $481,148.22 in unused funds, reducing the total contract ceiling value from $4,550,000.00 to $4,068,851.78. This contract is not set aside for any specific business type. Leidos has an extensive portfolio of federal contracts, including significant Indefinite Delivery Vehicles (IDVs) and Blanket Purchase Agreements (BPAs) with various government agencies. The company frequently partners with small and disadvantaged businesses as subcontractors. In this case, Leidos has subcontracted work to Potomac-Hudson Engineering Inc., a small business environmental consulting firm, to support the contract's Statement of Work.

Description

This task supports the united states department of energy (DOE) versatile test reactor (VTR) program, which is in the early stages of developing a fast spectrum neutron test reactor capability. This capability will expand both the theoretical and practical knowledge of nuclear physics, chemistry and materials science. A formal analysis of alternatives will be conducted by DOE and the contractor following completion of the scoping period to identify appropriate alternatives to be used for the nepa evaluation. Once the nepa process is complete and if there is a positive decision to proceed, a final design will be completed and construction of the VTR will begin. By statute, reactor startup is projected to occur by december 31, 2025.
