Description

This task area focuses on the test and evaluation of airport vehicle operations in the airport air operations area (AOA). There are a number of different airport vehicles operating on the AOA for numerous purposes. The safety, operation, equipment, and conspicuity of these vehicles is critical so misidentification, surface incidents, or runway incursions do not occur. Current guidance, requirements and standards are found within several FAA advisory circulars (AC), FAA orders, other FAA guidance documents, international civil aviation organization (ICAO) documents, and illuminating engineering society (IES) aviation lighting committee documents. Conspicuity information can be found in AC 150/5210-5D, painting, marking, and lighting of vehicles used on an airport, national fire protection association (NFPA) emergency vehicle standards, or other federal or national standards/documents.
