Description

The national oceanic and atmospheric administration/national ocean service center for coastal fisheries and habitat research (ccfhr) on pivers island in beaufort, north carolina requires repairs. This order is to provide site investigation to adequately define and price utility infrastructure design services, seawall replacement design services, provide environmental assessment support services, and assist in providing architectural and engineering construction administration support services on the seawall replacement once a construction contract is issued. The seawall on the west side surrounding the campus (ccfhr pivers island property) needs to be repaired, reinforced and replaced to avoid further deterioration and eventual failure. The seawall on the west side was constructed in 1967. IT is approximately 800 liear feet, running between the bridge servicing pivers island and the duke university property. Without immediate attention, the island will continue to experience more and more severe failures of the concrete retaining walls, suffer accelerated erosion, and continued losses of material and government property.
