About this award
This is a cost-plus-fixed-fee task order awarded by the Department of Energy under the BRINE EXTRACTION STORAGE TEST (BEST) PROJECTS OPPORTUNITY ANALYSIS program. The purpose is to create a data-driven analysis to assess the opportunity for applying brine extraction and storage technologies at industrial carbon dioxide (CO2) production facilities. The analysis will consider factors such as the location of individual point sources, reservoir characteristics, CO2 volumes, and water processing requirements. The $249,070.27 task order was awarded to Allegient Defense, Inc., a small disadvantaged business, in February 2017. Allegient Defense subsequently awarded a $93,325 subcontract to Enegis, LLC to provide study-related services.
Description
Task order 9 brine extraction storage test projects opportunity analysis the purpose of this task order is to create a data driven analysis to assess the opportunity sets for application of the proposed technologies at industrial CO2 producers and, to answer the question-given what we know, where would IT make sense to implement these technologies this analysis will consider the specific location of individual point sources (IPS), the reservoir characteristics of the applicable saline reservoir, the volumes of CO2 produced, captured, and injected, the volumes and chemistry of the waters produced through pressure management, and the needed processing required to make these water usable within the IPS. IT will be assumed that the IPS will have installed carbon capture retrofit technology and recirculating cooling.
