The award will be for the period starting approximately September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2017 for an IDIQ fixed price type contract.This is a synopsis for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code is 424520; small business size standard is 100 employees.It is anticipated that The Eastern Business Service Center (EBSC) Contracting will issue a solicitation for Commercial Items on approximately Friday, August 10, 2012 as a TOTAL SMALL BUSINESS SET-ASIDE Request for Quote. The website address for registration is: http://www.ccr.govCATTLE REQUIREMENTS: Cattle Breed - HolsteinCattle suppliers must have an Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care, (AAALAC) certification of a facility or certification of a site visit by the Department of Homeland Security veterinarian and approval of as an acceptable cattle supplier.The transportation, care, and use of animals should be in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act (7 U.S.C. 2131 et. seq.) and other applicable Federal laws, guidelines, and policies. For guidance refer to The Care and Use of Laboratory Animals (page 57) prepared by the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research, National Academy of Science.DELIVERY REQUIREMENTS: Animals shall be delivered to USDA, ARS, NAA, PIADC, 40550 Rt. 25, Warehouse facility, Orient Point, NY 11957. Delivery shall be between the hours of 07:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Tuesday thru Thursday, excluding Federal holidays.Proximity of the Contractor to PIADC is required to minimize animal stress during transportation in accordance with the Animal Welfare Act. Travel duration shall be a factor in determining a contractor's availability to provide research animals.
