Description
(item# 1) (REQ# 1422258) base - WR# HCY80060 - build labs - bldg 10 CRC - log # 0001 - CT# 29203D0107 - design & construct a generic research laboratory to the director's reserve to support new transitional research initiatives - thor sigfusson.can 8375506 - ORF FY-2010 08003820100DB0DIRECTOR's reserve in CRC B3-B2 (work request # HCY80060)scope of workclinical and translational research laboratories are the keystone of NIH's intramural research program (IRP). Lack of NIH director's reserve space restricts NIH's ability to launch new, trans-IC translational initiatives. Therefore the research space in the CRC on the CRC B3/B2 floors at the east end of the east lab wing, which was left shelled during the CRC construction, will be built out as generic, director's reserve to support new translational research initiatives. The work will include design and construction fit out of 3400 GSF (to be verified) of shell space on the B2 and B3, sector g, levels for a generic lab. The space was initially designed as shell, unfinished, space for later fit out of generic labs. Therefore all needed basic services (utilities) were brought to the perimeter and ceiling of the space for connections to the generic labs. Construction will require floor-to-slab walls and new ceilings and appropriate finishes and run out of all utilities. On the B3 level, the design should include a break room at the windowed space, with lab and lab support space for 12-16 scientists in the interior space including: area to north west designed as open lab area with lab desks and benches, and enclosed rooms for dark room, autoclave/ICE room, instrument rooms, and tissue culture rooms; and the labs east of the elevators on B3 will be designed for a tenure track lab with a two module open lab and a one module tissue culture/equipment room. The B2 level space shall be planned as an office area for the two principle investigators (one senior and one tenure track) with outer office for secretary as the south end, and cubicle areas for clinical fellows and staff at the north end. Being a generic lab, there shall be no loose furniture included in this contract, and the only installed equipment shall be: one 4 FT. Chemical fume-hood, benches and sinks. The gene therapy in 10/5C lab equipment shall serve as a guideline for planning for the CRC B3/B2 program. Casework shall contain fixed benches with overhead storage and movable under-counter cabinets. Rough-INS must be provided for future installation of class II type a - biosafety cabinets and stacked incubators in each tissue culture room, one small autoclave, one ICE machine, freezers, refrigerators, and other equipment. Include a location for lockers in the corridor of the B3 level, which shall be installed as part of the activation by the occupants. Design the MEP such that IT will allow future fit out of equipment in accordance with the a/e historical experience of what is required for a generic lab (a/e recommendation must be reviewed and approved by NIH). The contractor/architect must complete an existing conditions survey of the subject areas to determine location and capacities of existing utilities to support their design and future fit-out for this generic laboratory suite. IT is critical to provide sufficient infrastructure flexibility for future programs without engaging in major rework of the work added under this contract.the goal is to build a generic lab utilizing appropriate finishes and flexible utilities for marketing and recruitment. The space breakdown is as follows:B2 level - offices (furnishing excluded):1. Two principal investigator offices (one senior & one tenure-track) at approximately 100 SF each; the senior level office must include a window.2. One administrative assistant workstation; located adjacent to the two principal investigator offices.3. Open office area for fellows and nurses workstations; maximize the number o
