Description
Purposethe project will expand the knowledge base on the relationship between marriage and health in the domains of research and practice through the conduct of three discrete tasks. IT will begin a dialogue with the health care community about the relationship between marriage and public health, medical practice, and health care. IT will bring together key stakeholders across the health field with leaders in the marriage field for a symposium to discuss the links between marital status and health. The goals of the symposium, and the project, are to raise awareness about the relationship between marriage and health, engage the health care community in developing strategies to incorporate research findings regarding the relationship between marital status and health into health care policy and practice, prompt collaborative thinking, and identify specific questions and topics to further research in this area. The project will also increase our understanding of marriage and health in the african american community by commissioning a series of original analyses reported in research briefs. In addition, a very short brief will be written based on existing aspe data tables including marital status and health insurance variables.
