About this award
Korte Construction Company was awarded a $53.5 million firm fixed-price definitive contract on July 29, 2016, to design and build phases 1 through 3 of the Propulsion Maintenance Wing (PMXG) Plating Shop renovation at Tinker Air Force Base in Oklahoma City. The contract, funded by the Air Force Sustainment Center (ENDIST Tulsa), carried an ultimate completion date of December 17, 2024, and was not designated as a set-aside contract. Tinker AFB, one of the largest air logistics centers in the Department of Defense, required this specialized plating facility renovation to support maintenance operations for military aircraft propulsion systems. Korte Construction Company, a St. Louis-based design-build firm with extensive federal construction experience, was selected to deliver this complex renovation project.
Korte Construction Company engaged a comprehensive team of specialized subcontractors to execute the project scope, including Robinson Mechanical Contractors for mechanical and structural steel work, Oil Capital Electric for electrical and control systems, Western States Fire Protection for fire protection systems, and Oklahoma Roofing & Sheet Metal for roofing services. Additional subcontractors provided temporary partitions, HVAC commissioning, monorail hoists and bridge cranes, industrial coatings, and demolition services. This multi-disciplinary subcontractor network, assembled between November 2016 and August 2020, reflects the technical complexity of upgrading a critical military maintenance facility to support ongoing Air Force operations at Tinker AFB.
