About this award

This federal contract award, valued at $1,753,072.49, was issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) to Newland Entities, Inc., a small disadvantaged business, for the Right Bank Stabilization Project. This project is part of the larger Joint Federal Project Phase V, which addresses the potential destabilization of the existing slope where flows converge from the main Folsom Dam and new auxiliary spillway in Folsom, California. The primary objective is to ensure the slope between elevations 125 feet and 160 feet remains stable during future operations of the auxiliary spillway. This is a firm fixed-price definitive contract with a completion date of October 25, 2016.

Description

The right bank stabilization project which is part of the joint federal project phase v addresses the possibility of destabilization of the existing slope where the flows converge from the main folsom DAM and new auxiliary spillway. After the auxiliary spillway becomes operational changes in river hydraulics downstream of the stilling basin will occur that have not been experienced to date. Because of the orientation of the auxiliary spillway, an approximately 400 foot reach of the american river right bank area will become more vulnerable to erosion and scour. Thus, the primary objective of this contract is to ensure the increment of the slope between about elevations 125 feet and 160 feet (navd 88) remains stable during future operations of the auxiliary spillway.
