- This is a $1,440,803 firm fixed-price delivery order contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Langley Research Center to Saab Sensis Corporation. The contract supports NASA's NextGen-Airportal Project, with the objective of analyzing the potential benefits of NASA's Advanced Airspace Concepts and Technologies (ASP C&T). The work involves a cost-benefit assessment, integration evaluation, and development of a human-in-the-loop simulation experiment for...
- This federal contract was awarded by the Langley Research Center (LARC), a civilian agency, to the Logistics Management Institute (LMI) under the Professional Services Schedule (PSS). The contract has a ceiling value of $1,521,015.00 and was awarded on July 21, 2010 to provide research and development services related to NASA's Airspace Systems Program (ASP). The objective is to analyze the potential benefits of ASP concepts and technologies, investigate their integration, and design a...
- This is a $520,539 firm-fixed-price contract awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Langley Research Center to the National Institute of Aerospace Associates (NIA), a non-profit research and graduate education institute. The contract is funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) and supports the Airspace Systems Program (ASP) under NASA's NextGen Airspace project. The effort aims to develop software tools for analyzing and managing the...
- This contract award to Architecture Technology, Inc. (doing business as Architecture Technology Corp) is for the development of the Predictor of Airport Runway Capacity (PARC), a decision support tool for air traffic managers. The tool analyzes historical airport data to estimate near-term runway capacity, accounting for variables like weather and aircraft type. This Phase II Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) contract, valued at $746,076, was awarded by the National Aeronautics and Space...
- This $124,953 SBIR Phase I contract was awarded by NASA's Shared Services Center to Atac, a small business provider of aviation analysis and simulation services. The contract aims to develop a "what-if analysis" capability for evaluating multiple traffic management initiative (TMI) options by accurately simulating National Airspace System (NAS) operations under uncertainty. This will be achieved through integrating a hybrid traffic flow modeling framework and Bayesian networks to...
- This federal contract, awarded by the Langley Research Center (part of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration), is focused on developing methods for assuring safety in NextGen and flight critical systems using systems theory concepts. The prime contractor is the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), a leading research university, which is collaborating with Honeywell International Inc., a major aerospace manufacturer, as a subcontractor. The $1,690,359 contract has no set-aside...
- The National Aeronautics and Space Administration Ames Research Center awarded a $614,670.67 delivery order contract to Science & Technology Corporation to provide support to planning and technical meetings, generate operational scenarios including comments to global information standards, and analyze planned activities related to Next Generation Air Transportation System, Single European Sky ATM Research, and other regional air traffic management planning initiatives. The...
- This federal contract award, valued at $769,077.10, was issued by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) to Architecture Technology Corporation (ATC), a small business, under a Cooperative Agreement. The contract is for Phase II research and development of the PROCAST methodology, which integrates Bayesian networks and genetic algorithms to address complex optimization problems, with a focus on improving integrated arrival-departure surface air traffic management at busy...
- This is a $139,203.67 Cost Plus Fixed Fee task order awarded by the Langley Research Center (a civilian federal agency) to Architecture Technology Inc. (a small business) under the Flight Critical Systems Research IDIQ contract. The task order is titled "Understanding What It Means for Assurance Cases to 'Work'" and aims to investigate best practices for using assurance cases in the development and approval of safety-critical systems, particularly for the Next Generation Air...
- This is a cost-plus-fixed-fee delivery order federal contract award from the Langley Research Center, a civilian agency under NASA. The contract is for "AIR TRAFFIC MANAGEMENT (ATM) RESEARCH: AIRBORNE SURVEILLANCE CONCEPTS" and has a ceiling value of $576,763. The prime contractor is the National Institute of Aerospace Associates (NIA), a non-profit research institute that frequently supports NASA's work on advanced aerospace technologies. NIA has subcontracted portions of the work...
NEXTGEN-AIRPORTAL PROJECT TECHNOLOGIES: SYSTEMS ANALYSIS, INTEGRATION, AND EVALUATION THERE ARE THREE MAIN GOALS OF THE PROPOSED WORK: (1) ACCOMPLISH A COST BENEFIT ASSESSMENT OF NASA'S ASP CONCEPTS AND TECHNOLOGIES (HEREAFTER KNOWN AS C & T ); (2)INVESTIGATE THE INTEGRATION OF THESE CONCEPTS; AND (3) DESIGN A HUMAN IN THE LOOP (HITL) SIMULATION EXPERIMENT OF AN INTEGRATED OPERATIONAL CONCEPT. GOAL NUMBER ONE IS TO DETERMINE THE COST EFFICIENCY OF THE PROPOSED TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS. GOAL NUMBER TWO IS DESIGNED TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTIVENESS OF THESE NEW TECHNOLOGIES AS INTEGRATED IN THE NAS. THIS IS A CRITICAL EVALUATION AS THE STEPS REQUIRED FOR FULL INTEGRATION OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES INTO THE NAS IS A CHALLENGING TASK, WHICH OFTEN LEADS TO DIMINISHED EFFECTIVENESS OF THE CHANGES. GOAL NUMBER THREE WILL EXAMINE A PROPOSED INTEGRATED CONCEPT BY DEVELOPING A SIMULATION TEST PLAN. THE SIMULATION WILL STUDY IMPLEMENTATION ASPECTS SUCH AS HUMAN INTERFACE ISSUES WITH ANY NEW PROCEDURES AND/OR OTHER C & TS. INTERFACE AND USABILITY ISSUES CAN FURTHER CONSTRAIN A CONCEPT S OVERALL EFFECTIVENESS, AND SIMULATIONS THAT ARE AS REALISTIC AS POSSIBLE CAN HELP RESEARCHERS IN THEIR EVALUATION OF THE CONCEPTS. IT IS EXPECTED THAT THIS FUNDING WILL JUMP-START ADDITIONAL RESEARCH IN THIS AREA. THE OBJECTIVE OF THIS EFFORT IS TO ANALYZE THE POTENTIAL BENEFITS OF NASA S ASP C & TS. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ACCOMPLISH THIS BY PERFORMING THE FOLLOWING TASKS: CATALOG THE C & TS IDENTIFY HOW THE C & TS CREATE BENEFITS (IDENTIFY THE BENEFIT CREATING MECHANISMS) DETERMINE APPROPRIATE EVALUATION METRICS PERFORM CONCEPT BENEFIT EVALUATION USING MODELING AND SIMULATION TOOLS ASSESS BENEFITS ESTIMATE STAKEHOLDER COSTS
