The Department of the Navy Naval Education and Training Command awarded a $1,074,140 firm fixed price definitive contract to the University of California San Diego Scripps Institution of Oceanography Division for the design, fabrication, and manufacture of hydrophone modules using inductive modem technology. The contract builds on prior grants awarded to Scripps Institution of Oceanography to develop hydrophone technologies. It will provide the Naval Postgraduate School with additional modules to improve underwater target detection and localization capabilities in support of research missions and field experiments. As the only responsible source able to meet the Navy's requirements, Scripps Institution of Oceanography received this sole source award under the authority provided in Federal Acquisition Regulation 6.302-1. Performance will occur in La Jolla, California over a 15-month period ending in July 2022.
