Added: Jun 04, 2010 4:02 pm The Bureau of Reclamation intends to issue an Invitation for Bids for a firm fixed price construction contract for Control Upgrade and Modernization of the Gantry and Bridge Cranes at the Folsom Dam and Powerplant. The Folsom Dam and Powerplant is located on the American River approximately 2 miles north of Folsom, California in Sacramento County. The applicable North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) Code is 237990 and the related small business size standard is $33.5 Million. The solicitation will include HUBZone Price Evaluation Preference procedures as described in Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) 19.1307. The principal components of work are as follows: A. Folsom Powerplant 275 Ton Capacity Bridge Crane: 1. Remove and dispose existing equipment: a. Eight hoist, trolley, and bridge motors b. All control equipment from crane control cabinet enclosures c. Wiring and cable festoon systems d. Pendant controls e. Load cells for hoist hooks f. Two trolley equipment enclosures 2. Furnish and install new equipment: a. Motors for main and auxiliary hoists, trolleys, and bridge b. Variable frequency drive (VFD) controls for all hoists, trolleys, and bridge drives c. Cable festoon systems for bridge and trolley d. Cab control console and two wireless radio control stations e. Grounding and bonding conductors and other miscellaneous equipment required to complete electrical installation f. Load cells for hoist hooks g. Trolley equipment enclosures h. Fencing and stair treads on handrail at access walkway 3. Refurbish bridge brake system pressure switch and indication light. 4. Perform load tests and operation and maintenance training. B. Folsom Dam 140 Ton Capacity Gantry Crane: 1. Remove and dispose of existing equipment: a. Seven hoist, trolley, and gantry motors b. All control equipment from crane control cabinet enclosures c. Anti-two-block system on auxiliary hoist hook d. Load cells for hoist hooks e. Motor-generator set f. Eight power supply receptacles g. Power cable 2. Furnish and install new equipment: a. Motors for main and auxiliary hoists, trolley, and gantry b. Cables, wiring, and electrical conduit c. Cab control console and two wireless radio control stations d. VFD controls for all hoist, trolley, and gantry drives e. Exterior lighting system f. Load cells for hoist hooks g. Anti-two-block system on auxiliary hook h. Grounding and bonding conductors and other miscellaneous equipment and items to complete electrical installation i. Eight combination disconnect switch and power receptacles 3. Relocate control enclosure for monorail hoist. 4. Perform load tests and operation and maintenance training. The estimated cost of this project is between $1,000,000 and $5,000,000. This procurement will require 100% performance and payment bonds. Solicitation R10PS20197 will be posted at http://ideasec.nbc.gov on or around July 1, 2010. The estimated date for receipt of bids is August 1, 2010. The solicitation and specifications will need to be downloaded at the above site, with the drawings being mailed to you by hardcopy. No paper copy of this solicitation will be distributed with the exception of the drawings.
