This is a $6,004,955.00 firm fixed-price contract awarded by the National Park Service to Perry Bartsch JR. Construction Company for the rehabilitation of the Visitor Center at Mammoth Cave National Park in Kentucky. The work involves 10,264 square feet of selective demolition and alteration of the original 1956 Visitor Center, including 2,520 square feet of basement renovation, 7,744 square feet of new interior construction on the main floor for exhibit space, and 1,680 square feet of a new mechanical platform at the mezzanine level. The project will utilize sustainable materials and practices, and incorporate features such as a renewable photovoltaic system, a hydronic plumbing system, fire detection and suppression, surveillance, telecommunications, and site improvements. This contract is not associated with a set-aside program and has an ultimate completion date of August 31, 2012.
