About this award
Washington Headquarters Service awarded a $13 million firm-fixed-price definitive contract to Eradrive, Inc. on September 23, 2026, for two spacecraft optical navigation and autonomy modules, an optical hardware-in-the-loop stimulator, and electrical ground support equipment, under a sole-source justification per FAR 6.302-1 (Only One Responsible Source). The contract is APFIT-funded via Economy Act interagency agreement with NASA Ames Research Center as the servicing agency.
Place of performance is Palo Alto, CA. The procurement, posted June 16, 2026 with a July 1 response deadline, procures three flight-qualified spacecraft autonomy modules integrating vision-based, GPS-independent positioning, navigation, and timing; autonomous onboard maneuver planning; and autonomous optical detection, identification, and orbit determination of resident space objects. Scope includes integration, test, verification, and validation tooling, nonrecurring engineering, and associated support services. Performance extends through December 23, 2029.
Eradrive holds proprietary rights to flight software and algorithms and is the only known source with demonstrated flight heritage in GPS-independent optical navigation and autonomy, having operated aboard NASA's Starling small spacecraft swarm. The Government lacks sufficient technical data and software rights to enable alternative performance; redevelopment and on-orbit revalidation would impose substantial duplicative cost and schedule delays. NAICS 334511; PSC 6605.
