The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) awarded a $19,773,713 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to University Research Co., LLC to implement the Cambodia Malaria Elimination Project 2 (CMEP 2) in Cambodia. The contract, which does not have a set-aside designation, aims to build on previous efforts and strengthen local capacity in malaria prevention, diagnosis, management, surveillance, and reporting to help Cambodia reach its malaria elimination targets by 2025. The project will initially focus on six Cambodian provinces: Pailin, Battambang, Pursat, Kep, Kampot, and Koh Kong. University Research Co., LLC will collaborate with two subcontractors, Pursat Forest Development Association (PfDA) and Action for Health and Education in Advocacy and Development (AHEAD), to extend malaria services to hard-to-reach populations in Pursat, Kampot, Koh Kong, and Battambang provinces.
