THE SCOPE INCLUDES CUTTING OPEN AN APPROXIMATE 6 FT X 6 FT OR SMALLER SECTION OF ASPHALT CENTERED ABOVE THE ACCESS HOLE FOR THE GATE VALVE, EXCAVATING THE BITUMINOUS FILL TO AN APPROPRIATE DEPTH TO LOCATE AND REPLACE THE BROKEN GATE VALVE. A NEW ACCESS MAIN TUBE WILL BE INSTALLED TO ALLOW FOR PROPER T WRENCH ACCESS TO THE WATER GATE VALVE FROM THE STREET SURFACE WITH AN APPROPRIATE SHUTOFF T WRENCH TOOL PROVIDED TO THE PARK BY THE CONTRACTOR. THE ACCESS POINT MUST BE DIRECTLY OVER THE VALVE WITH STRAIGHT ACCESS TO THE VALVE FOR PROPER ALIGNMENT OF THE T WRENCH. THIS OPERATION MUST BE TESTED AND SHOWN TO THE COR TO BE ACCESSIBLE AND FUNCTIONAL BEFORE COMPLETION OF WORK. THE PIT WITHIN THE STREET WILL BE BACKFILLED, COMPACTED AND RE-PATCHED WITH ASPHALT TO MASSACHUSETTS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION STANDARDS. CONTRACTOR MUST PROVIDE ALL LABOR, MATERIAL, TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT NECESSARY FOR THE EXCAVATION, INSTALLATION, BACKFILL AND REPLACEMENT OF THE GATE VALVE AND ITS RECONNECTION TO THE EXISTING WATER SYSTEM.
