The U.S. Department of Agriculture's Forest Service, Region 9, awarded a $167,503 definitive contract to Cable Excavating, L.L.C. for reconstruction of Forest Service Roads 212 (Muzette) and 486 (Furnace) on May 27, 2026, under a total small business set-aside.
The solicitation required reconstruction of approximately 3.2 linear miles of roadway on the Allegheny National Forest, Marienville Ranger District, in Pennsylvania (McKean, Warren, Forest, and Elk Counties). Scope includes culvert removal and replacement, roadway template reconditioning, drainage feature reconstruction, placement and compaction of road base and surface aggregates totaling 851 tons of base course and 1,656 tons of surface course, limestone riprap (182 tons), and seeding and mulching of disturbed areas. Culvert work spans multiple diameters, including 182 linear feet of 18-inch and 56 linear feet of 24-inch steel pipe. All work must comply with Federal Highway Project Specification FP-14 and Forest Service Supplemental Specifications. Place of performance is Russell, PA 16345. The contract runs May 1 through September 30, 2026, with work to be completed within 45 calendar days of the Notice to Proceed. The contract is firm-fixed-price. Performance and payment bonds are required within 10 calendar days after award. Davis-Bacon prevailing wage rates apply.
