The Department of Agriculture Forest Service awarded a $14.1 million definitive contract to Tenax Aerospace LLC to provide night mapping for wildfires using infrared imaging from aircraft. The contract is associated with the National Infrared Operations program hosted by the Forest Service, which requests proposals for light fixed-wing aircraft to conduct infrared mapping of wildfire perimeters from 10,000 to 18,000 feet for rapid delivery to fire managers. The base period is one year starting in June 2020, with two optional one-year extensions. The contract has a total small business set aside and will be performed in Boise, Idaho. Tenax Aerospace will provide a fully operated and maintained aircraft, pilots, sensor operators, and maintenance to support the Forest Service's efforts to effectively monitor and respond to wildfires.
