Description

The children's museum of indianapolis (muoseum) seeks to create and implement curious scientific investigator (c SI): beyond spaceship earth to connect students. Educators. And families with science, technology, engineering, and math (stem) disciplines through the compelling achievements of NASA. As the lead institution, the museum is partnering with NASA johnson space center (JSC), purdue university, and spacex to implement the project in indianapolis. The project aligns with NASA's strategic framework and will target educational goals along NASA's "four categories of involvement" to meet the following outcomes: inspire children and families to develop an interest in stem concepts and NASA's role in human space exploration and research. Engage children and families through inquiry-based programs that enable participants to interact more deeply with stem concepts of human space flight, NASA's contributions to this field, and the future of space research. Educate students, teachers, and families through focused curriculum and programs that develop specific stem skills and stem knowledge utilizing NASA resources. Employ- CSI: beyond spaceship earth will advance a pipeline of scientists in human space exploration by introducing students to the skills, experience, and knowledge needed to become the next generation of explorers and innovators. The museum will create a unique international space station-themed exhibit for children and families to foster family learning and understanding of NASA's human exploration and operations mission directorate (heomd) research and develop high quality educational programs and on-line interactives that promote interest, engagement. And awareness of NASA's achievements in space exploration and how these benefit life on earth.
