About this award
This federal contract award, with ID 80AFRC18M0002, was issued by the Armstrong Flight Research Center (a civilian agency) to Nexolve Holding Co LLC, a small business, for the development and testing of the LISA-T Lightweight Integrated Solar Array and Antenna system. The LISA-T is an integrated solar array that can be deployed from a compact volume and is customizable for power and attitude requirements of spacecraft.
The $130,763.00 cooperative agreement will fund the deployment of up to two LISA-T configurations in a microgravity environment on a series of zero-gravity flights. This will demonstrate deployment feasibility in microgravity and reduce overall system risk for future flight demonstration missions. Nexolve, a leader in polyimide-based structures for space applications, has extensive experience working with NASA, DoD, and commercial partners on advanced materials, solar arrays, antennas, and deployable structures. This award does not utilize a set-aside designation.
Description
Lisa-T - lightweight integrated solar array and antenna is an integrated solar array that is deployed from an extremely compact volume. The lisa-T system is customizable for power requirements and attitude capability for the host spacecraft and is configured to deploy as either a planar array (high power applications) or an omni-directional array (no pointing required). The flight objective of the proposed test is to deploy up to two configurations of the lisa-T system in a microgravity environment on a series of two zero-G flights. This test will demonstrate deployment in a microgravity environment advancing the design and reducing overall system risk for subsequent flight demonstration missions. A zero-G flight provides the best means to test deployment kinematics that are unique to the microgravity environment which cannot be fully replicated through static 1G testing.
