Description

Funds for system analysis and enhancement of conceptual design tools for the fixed wing project task. The contractor shall perform four major tasks: identify technology collectors (TCS), model technology collectors, model and assess n+3 technologies, and perform reviews, status updates and reports. The contractor shall, in consultation with NASA, identify conventional tube and wing configuration vehicles and unconventional configuration vehicles of interest at the start of each year as technology collectors for US in the system level analysis. The contractor shall perform a systems level assessment of the vehicle configuration. As part of the assessment, the contractor shall parametrically model each technology collector to allow for the evaluation of different technology portfolios and optimization of design parameters. The contractor shall be able to develop parametric engine models that are properly sized and designed at multiple design points, parametric flowpath models, parametric weight estimation models, parametric models to predict the weight of cryogenic components of the system, parametric aircraft models, and noise models. Furthermore, all of the models should be created in an integrated, seamless manner. For the purpose of technology modeling and assessment, the contractor shall collect technology data, model the technologies, and develop a technology portfolio based on the technologies that can be modeled. The contractor shall develop a parametric propulsion transient performance prediction model using npss and couple IT with NASA s engine control and simulation tool in order to asses next generation commercial ultra-high bypass ration engines. Furthermore, the contractor shall develop a methodology to ensure that potential designs meet both steady-state and transient design criteria. The contractor shall assess at minimum one propulsion system control technology in an integrated fashion. The contractor shall prepare a presentation in powerpoint that facilitates review and discussion of the task objectives, approach significant technical risks and management issues, and the desired outcomes and tangible products.
