QUESTION: Specification Item No: 102, various paragraphs

4.

1. Paragraph 3.1.1 notes the work area as 6,000 sq ft. Can we assume this is one continuous, unbroken area and not several scattered areas over the entire deck?

2. Could the select area of the deck be better identified i.e. forward deck, aft deck, from frame xx to frame xx?

3. Paragraph 7.1.2.1 specifies a daily protection survey. Could this survey take place by 0700 so as to not affect production efforts?

4. Paragraph 7.2.6 notes that power tool cleaning is required on select areas i.e. vertical surfaces, bulkheads, etc. How much of the 6,000 sq ft can be vacuum blasted (7.2.4) and how much would require power tool cleaning?

5. Paragraph 7.2.4 notes to vacuum blast “deck tie down fittings, all flush hatches and scuttles”.

Could an amount of these items be provided?

6. Paragraph 7.4.2 notes to apply “Amercoat 385 ASA at a rate of 30 sq ft per gallon”. This seems to be a very heavy millage for this product (it’s usually about 125 sq ft per gallon). The specified rate (30 sq ft per gallon) is usually what’s required for helo deck non-skid. Please advise

7. Could the amount, type, style and color of the markings to be restored (7.5.1) on the deck area be better identified?

1. Yes

2. 01 level in its entirety

3. Yes, can be rescheduled as necessary

4. Vacuum blasting is preferred for as much as possible, Power tool for edging that the vacuum blaster cannot accommodate.

6. Mills in accordance with Paint rep. also a high traffic area

7. Standard blurb. Minor stenciling may be required.

QUESTION: Specification Item No: 103, various paragraphs

5.

1. As to allow pricing to be “apples to apples” could the owners provide the surface area of the tanks listed in paragraph 3.1?

2. Paragraph 7.1.4.4 stipulates that the tank steel surfaces must be kept at a minimum of 60 degrees

Fahrenheit. As the coating being applied to the steel surface can be applied down to 23 degrees Fahrenheit, can the minimum temperature requirement be omitted?

3. Paragraph 7.2.1 directs to commence washing within 48 hours of the tanks being gas free and completed within 24 hours. Paragraph 5.3 seems to allude to some steel repairs that must be completed. Would the prescribed washing need to be done before the steel repairs or after? Also the time required to set up and stage the tanks and the fact that four tanks are to be dealt with makes the specified time frame problematic and expensive as all tanks would be to be staged at the same time to be washed at the same time. Please offer guidance.

4. Please advise if there is any existing mud, dirt or muck to be removed from these tanks and if so how much (like 1 M3 per tank)?

5. Par 8.1 request some per tank pricing but it appears to be different tanks?

6. Please provide a capacity plan and general arrangement for this item. The references provided do not show the tanks and sumps listed in paragraph 3 therefore making it difficult to provide reasonable estimates as to the locations of access cuts.

7. The item references to the Port and Stbd anchor sumps require square footage and configuration to be provided. Please provide the requested information.

8. Is the Port Aft Peak to be considered #3 S. W. Ballast tank and the Stbd Aft Peak is #6 S. W.

Ballast tank?

1. Square footage unknown, use references for estimation.

2. Paint can be applied inaccordance with Manufactures guidelines though above freezing is preferable.

3. There is no known required steel work in these tanks. Aft peaks do not require staging. Reasonable accomidations can be made time line via adequate production schedual.

4. Aft peak tanks are realativly clean, anchor chain sumps are unknown

5. Revised spec provided

6.5504177, 5504028 and the Book of general plans

7.configuration is in book of general plans, ass

8. they are Aft peak 2 and 3, QUESTION: Specification Item No: 104 various paragraphs

6.

1. Paragraph 3.1.2.1 notes the work area as 10,000 sq ft. Paragraph 3.1.2.2 notes the entire Superstructure. Please confirm we are preparing the entire Superstructure and the entire Superstructure is 10,000 sq ft.

2. Our intent is to offer pricing for par 7.2.4 based on “grit slurry blasting” which is a more cost effective method of surface preparation and controls the dust. The area would then pressure washed prior to coating. The resulting surface would be a WJ-2L with a surface profile. This would be in keeping with past MSC jobs. Please confirm this is acceptable

3. Can the coatings be applied via brush and roll (as long as the proper milage is obtained) or must spray application be utilized?

4. Could the amount, type, style and color of the markings to be restored (7.3.4) on the Superstructure be better identified?

5. The referenced drawing is for joiner bulkhead installation. Please provide a general arrangement drawing of the superstructure and pictures of the superstructure showing the area to be blasted and coated and staging requirements.

QUESTION: Specification Item No: 106 various paragraphs

7.

1. Paragraph 3.1.2.1 notes the work area as 2,000 sq ft. Paragraph 3.1.2.2 notes the entire “Superstructure” which is assumed to be a misprint and should be “Cranes”. Please confirm we are preparing the entire area of both Cranes and the entire area of the Cranes is 2,000 sq ft (total for both Cranes) and not scattered spot work (the surface area looks low compared to the amount of paint being furnished).

2. If in fact this item requires spot surface preparation can the owners provide the total surface area of each Crane?

3. If in fact this item requires spot surface preparation can we assume spot work would be in minimum one square foot increments

4. Can the coatings be applied via brush and roll (as long as the proper milage is obtained) or must

5. Could the amount, type, style and color of the markings to be restored (7.3.4) on the Cranes be better identified?

7. Please provide pictures of the cranes and scaffolding requirements called for in paragraph 7.1.3.

8. paragraphs 7.2 and 7.3 references 3.1.1.a and hull markings. There is no paragraph 3.1.1.a and why are hull markings, including numbers and draft marks, referenced?

1,2,3 both Cranes are to blasted and painted in their entirety from what can be accomplished fully exptended.

4. Yes, rollers and brushes can be used

5. Minor stenciling i.e. SWL will need to be re marked.

6. Standard blurb, Cranes do not have any real interferences.

7. Ship is available for ship check, Boom extends from 15 feet above 01 level aft to the transom in the retracted position. The option to remove the booms for blast and paint off ship then reinstalled is allowed if prefereable.

8. See corrected spec. Note some of the paint references and paragraphs cross over items. Hull markings are not on the cranes and not required.

QUESTION: Specification Item No: 107 various paragraphs

Please confirm we are preparing the entire Bulwark and Appendages and the entire Bulwark and Appendages is 10,000 sq ft.

3. Can the coatings be applied via brush and roll (as long as the proper milage is obtained) or must

4. Could the amount, type, style and color of the markings to be restored (7.3.4) on the Bulwark and Appendages be better identified?

3. If in fact this item requires spot surface preparation can we assume spot work would be in minimum one square foot increments

4. The “high pressure water wash” specified in par 7.2.1 may not have the adequate pressure to remove the existing marine growth (depending on the condition of the hull) and additional wash / dry evolutions or washing at a higher pressure might be required. Please offer additional advice or instructions

5. Our intent is to offer pricing based on “grit slurry blasting” which is a more cost effective method of surface preparation and controls the dust. The area would then pressure washed prior to coating. The resulting surface would be a WJ-2L with a surface profile. This would be in keeping with past jobs. Please confirm this is acceptable

1. The item is for a sweep, spot blast, feather and top coat. Currently the hull paint is in relatively good condition and the spot coat portion should be minimal.

2. As above, this is a standard repetitive work item for ZEUS
