Description:

In response to queries from interested firms relating to the revised, updated Performance Work Statement (SOW), dated 04 Oct 2007, the following Q&As are posted to FedBizOpps:

Performance Work Statement Q: Does portability infer vehicle mounted or fixed?

A: It could be mounted on a truck but none of the components will be installed permanently at any site.

Q: Does the USAF require multi-lateration capabilities?

A: No.

Q: What altitude range is required for surveillance?

A: 50 nautical miles, 10K to 50K feet MSL with no obstructions.

Q: We think the SOW has gone from Mode S to ADS-B with Mode S; does the USAF require 1090 or 1090ES functionality?

A: Currently, we are not doing ADS-B.

Q: Additional channels for UAT (timestamp auto broadcast)? TIS-B (TIS broadcast channel)? Does the Government require a simple portable beacon to interrogate and receive a Mode S squitter, or a full positioning system to include multi-lateration ADS-B?

A: The Government requires a Mode S interrogator capable of communicating with Mode S equipped aircraft. ELS and EHS are required. ADS-B is not required. The use of the terms “squitter” and “beacon” only confuse the discussion.

Q: Does the USAF require only one unit? If so, then GPS data for A/C positioning will have to be correlated with the airborne ADLP.

A: The USAF is buying one unit (system) only. We will get positioning data from other sources, e.g., radar data and data recorded on the A/C. The system is not required to provide this information.

NOTE: We received a request for topography maps of Edwards AFB; however, those maps are not required to respond to this acquisition.
