Description:

Questions and Answers: In response to the Questions and Answers posted on 04 Sep 2007, the following three questions have arisen. Government response is provided:

1. Q: How does the 50 mile working range compare to the location of Building 1440; specifically, is Building 1440 located at the center of the 50 mile system working range or at the outskirts?

A: The 50 nm radius is measured from the remote radar location (the antenna).

2. Q: What is the expected altitude at which the MSCA together with the remote interrogator will need to work at the 50 mile point? In other words, what is the minimum tracking and acquisition altitude of the aircraft that the MSCA/interrogator need to properly work at the 50 mile point? Or what is the minimum acquisition and tracking altitude throughout the complete 50 mile interrogation range?

A: Minimum altitude is 12000 feet above MSL.

3. Is Mode 4 crypto required for the Mode S project?

A: Mode 4 is not required.

Any questions or comments relating to the MSTEC acquisition, please contact the Government POC. Industry continued interest is appreciated.
