Meeting started promptly at 10 AM, opened by Sue Gitto, then Brian Keenan briefly reviewed the specifications. Following the recap, the attendees went to Building 418. The site vist involved viewing the hangar roof from a vantage point, and ended at approximately 10:20. No site photography was permitted and no one was permitted on the roof.
The following clarifications were made today:
• Work is on the main building only, the roofs on both sides were recently completed
• Remove old, damaged paint only, approximately 75% of the roof, as per the specs
• Encapsulate the current paint that is not being removed
• Apply primer and 2 top coats
• Awardee must provide Lead Abatement Certification
• Due to high winds – Awardee will need to provide plan to ensure capturing all of the abated lead paint
• Awardee is responsible for removal of the lead paint chips from the gutters and downspouts that are created from this job only.
• Evacuation from roof is not required when planes land. However, due to high winds typical of the area, additional winds when planes land, plus the angle and height of the roof, contractors need to give extra consideration to ensure the safety of their employees
• Anything dropped (i.e. paint brush, screw, washer, pen, etc.) will need to be retrieved immediately for the safety of Government property (e.g. aircraft)
• Metal Roof Corrugation Dimensions – Brian is researching…
• Section 02085 – Disturbance of Lead Containing Surface Coatings, 3.8 E clarification:
contractor is required to achieve to the baseline level
