# QUESTION ANSWER
1 How big is the backup generator? 200KW.
Have there been any problems with switchover to the generator after a power loss?
No. There is an automatic transfer switch in place and the transfer of power has been smooth.
3 When you lose power, is water lost also? No, as long as the generator kicks on.
Does the GEODSS site share power with MIT Lincoln Laboratory? The sites are fed the same commercial power. GEODSS does not share emergency power (generator) with MIT

5 Are people always on site from MIT Lincoln Laboratory? No. Their presence on site varies.
6 Who owns and what is the purpose of the surrounding buildings? WSMR proper, leased out to multiple agents
What is the typical crew makeup? Crew make-up will be up to the offeror on how to best meet the requirements of the PWS.
8 What security level are typical operations conducted at? Secret
Why are the domes being replaced? As part of the sustainment/service life extension of the system.
Who are the manufacturers of the new domes? The new domes are called Observa Domes and are made by Laboratories, INC.
11 Can the brake system for the domes be done manually? Yes.
What is the purpose of the barcodes on the towers and domes? Tower scans the barcodes to know which direction it is pointing. Each barcode is representative of azimuth degree
Are there any differences between the sites in terms of the physical layout?
Dets 1 and 2 are virtually the same, at Det 3 the towers are stand-alone and not connected to the Ops building.
Who develops mission planning? Taskings are determined by JSpOC, but mission scheduling is a PWS requirement (PWS 2.1.1)
How do you plan the SOI taskings that need to be completed? SOI taskings are determined by NASIC. As part of mission scheduling, the contractor determines how to complete
100% of objects tasked each month.
Can the contractor communicate directly with National Air and Space
Intelligence Center (NASIC)?
Yes.
Do you use astrometric or mount model calibration? There are numerous calibration in the T.O., some use mount data others use astrometric.
18 Can the O&M contractor suggest TTPs? Yes. See PWS 3.1.4.1
Does the Det CC/COR conduct operations and require training? The Det CC/COR does not conduct operations, but receive
Basic Mission Qualification training from the contractor.
What are the requirements for mount calibration? These are covered in the requisite TO (available in the
Bidder's Library).
21 What is the wind limitation on the towers? 27 mph.
