ITSS – 01

1. BACKGROUND

The Software Services Branch (SSB) provides technical services for USPTO Developed Applications (AIS) and Enterprise Commercial-off-the-Shelf (COTS) packages. SSB provides support for mission critical systems such as USPTO’s Patents End to End (PE2E), USPTO’s Trademarks Next Generation (TMNG), Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange Email, anti-virus software and other enterprise management tools used to support operations.

SSB deploys, manages and troubleshoots USPTO AIS’s and Enterprise COTS. SSB is responsible for the installation, deployment, configuration, administration, maintenance, patching, upgrades, troubleshooting, testing and security of these Applications. Using USPTO Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), SSB personnel work with technical teams from the Office Application and Engineering Division (OAED) and Enterprise Platform Support Division (EPSD) to ensure that all enterprise applications meet explicit and implied service level agreements. USPTO AIS’s and Enterprise COTS run on technologies including Red Hat Enterprise Linux, RHEL virtualization (RHEV), Windows, VMWare, JBOSS, Websphere, Tomcat, Apache, Amazon Cloud, Pega, Alfresco, PHP, and lucene. SSB coordinates teams throughout OCIO and OIEO to provide operational support.

The AIS’s and COTS packages supported by SSB are installed on servers in Production and Lab environments of USPTO.

The objective of this Task-Order is to bring additional application, software management and maintenance expertise to SSB.
