Solicitation AG-32SC-S-17-0027

Question: Please confirm we will have from May 15th to July 13th to complete all of the work. Is this schedule flexible?

Answer: The dates are just estimates based on the anticipated award date at this time. The work is required to be completed within 60 days of the Notice to Proceed.

Question: Will there be a place/room set aside for us to store material?

Answer: Yes. Contractor will work with Location Monitor for storage space after award.

Question: Please confirm you want us to install new cable trays in all of the labs, or will J-hooks/rings be sufficient in the labs?

Answer: J-hooks will be sufficient in the labs. See revised SOW.

Question: RFP shows 274 locations with 2 data ports each (548 total cables). It also shows

(7) 48-port patch panels total (336 total ports). The RFP does not account for enough patch panels ports for all the cables. Please clarify.

Answer: See revised SOW.

Question: There doesn’t appear to be enough room in the rack on the 2nd floor IT room (Rm

247) for the patch panels/fiber trays (and switches to support all of the patch panel ports). Nothing was included in the RFP for us to install a new rack in this room.

Please clarify.

Answer: See revised SOW.

Question: Are there any plans that show the building dimensions that you can provide us with?

Answer: See Attachment J for scaled floorplans.

Question: The RFP states that we will be responsible for replacing any damaged ceiling tiles. Do you have a supplier we can purchase these tiles from?

Answer: See revised SOW with ceiling tile replacement option.

Question: I counted 261 data locations on the plans (including the three WAP’s on the 1st floor). Are there more WAP’s on other floors? The RFP states 274 locations total. Please clarify.

Answer: See revised SOW for updated counts.

Question: Will we be responsible for moving furniture and equipment, or will someone be made available to help?

Answer: Location will provide employees to help move furniture and equipment as needed.

Question: Where is the materials list for this project?

Answer: See revised scope of work for further clarifications.

Question: Can a copy of the latest Asbestos Building Inspection Report be provided?

Answer: See attached reports.

Question: Wireless Access Points are noted on the floor plans, will they require one or two data cables? Will the contractor be responsible for installing wireless equipment provided by others?

Answer: See revised SOW. Each will require 2 data ports. Equipment and install will be completed by others (University of Wisconsin). See mounting instructions in Attachment E and F.

Question: The existing acoustical ceiling tiles are a bit old, it would be difficult to match tile color. Will the owner be providing replacement tiles as needed or will it be acceptable for the contractor to install new tiles that do not match existing?

Answer: See revised SOW with ceiling tile replacement option.

Question: Will the contractor be responsible for providing 120vac power in the equipment rooms and at the new CUBE-IT cabinets?

Answer: Contractor is required to provide power for cabinets.

Question: Will the contractor be responsible for a complete TIA-607 Grounding System including Telecommunications Bonding Backbone connection from the building electrical service panel to a Telecommunications Grounding Busbar in each equipment room and bonding connection of all metallic components (racking, hardware, cabinets, and cable tray)?

Answer: See revised specification.

Question: Specification section 2.3.1.1 Backbone Copper – Is a copper back bone required for this project?

Answer: See revised specification.

Question: Statement of Work 10. Scope of Work indicates that cable shall be installed in tray – Is it acceptable to install new data cabling exposed in J hook cable hardware in areas that do not have acoustical ceiling? Is surface mounted raceway or conduit required to conceal new data cabling in areas with block walls? Would surface mounted raceway be required from outlets height to ceiling only?

Answer: See revised SOW. Yes, surface mounted raceway is required on block walls.

Question: Will the owner install all modular patch cords and make final equipment connections to PC’s, Phone, and all peripheral equipment?

Answer: Owner will make final connections.

Question: Will the owner be installing new network switches/hardware or relocating exiting to the new equipment racks & cabinets?

Answer: Switches and hardware to be provided by others (University of Wisconsin)

Question: Will the Contractor be required to provide Modular patch cords? If so can quantity, length, and color desired to provided?

Answer: Owner will make final connections.

Question: Will the Contractor be required to provide Fiber optic Jumpers? If so can quantity and length desired be provided?

Answer: Will be completed by others (University of Wisconsin)

Question: Please clarify the expectation for raceways in the Labs. Would the Contractor install cabling exposed or would the owner require some sort of raceway system or EMT conduit drops to protect & conceal data cabling?

Answer: J-hooks are acceptable in labs. Surface mounted conduit is required on block walls.

Statement of Work 8.a indicates that existing cabling shall be removed on completion of work.

The work includes the installation of new Category 6 Data cabling, the specification does not provide detail for the reuse, migration, or “cutover” of existing telecommunications phone and analog devices that are currently on the old cabling. Contractor will be required to remove old cabling after cutover has been completed by University of Wisconsin.

Question: Is the intent to use the new installed Category 6 Data cabling for both Data/Network Ethernet devices as well as Digital & Analog phone type connections? In this is the case the contractor will be required to modify Phone (Digital & Analog) type phone connections for use on the new cable plant?

Answer: N/A per answer to above.

Question: Would the existing Digital & Analog phone type connections remain on place or be removed at completion of the project? If they are to remain they will need to be modified and co-located within the same plate as the new data cabling at openings being reused.

Answer: N/A per answer to above.

Question: Will the owner provide detailed information as to the location, extension, and type of all telecommunications devices currently being used in the facility? Will the owner provide the same level of detailed information for placement of device as they will be installed (cut-over) to the new cable plant?

Answer: N/A per answer to above.
