Question: Reference the Amendment 4 Q&A regarding acceptable terrace material. What is the maximum organic content for the material to be placed at terraces?

NRCS Answer: Although there is no maximum organic content specified in the drawings or specifications, the contractor is referred to Construction Specification 23, Earthfill under Section 2, Material, which states:

“All fill material shall be obtained from required excavations and designated borrow areas. The selection, blending, routing, and disposition of material in the various fills shall be subject to approval by the engineer.

Fill materials shall contain no frozen soil, sod, brush, roots, or other perishable material.

Rock particles larger than the maximum size specified for each type of fill shall be removed prior to compaction of the fill.

The types of material used in the various fills shall be as listed and described in the specifications and drawings.”

Question: DWG sheet 21 shows gaps in the borrow canals. Please clarify if the borrow canals for the terrace work can be contiguous for movement of equipment, vegetation debris, material, etc. between terraces within the work limits.

NRCS Answer: The borrow canals for the terrace work can be contiguous.
