About this opportunity

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, operated by Stanford University for the Department of Energy, is soliciting proposals for precision machining services of a 4-Quadrant Accelerator (TID QCM) component. The primary requirement involves delivering uncoated copper parts that meet ultra-high vacuum (UHV) compatibility standards and demonstrate high-precision CNC machining capabilities. Key contract qualifications include acceptable past performance in comparable ultra-high vacuum applications, which may be demonstrated through experience in related industries beyond accelerator manufacturing. Proposals will be evaluated using the Lowest Price Technically Acceptable (LPTA) method, with award based primarily on pricing once technical compliance is established. The deadline for submitting clarification questions was March 10, 2026, while the original proposal submission deadline of March 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM PST was subsequently extended to March 23, 2026 at 8:00 AM PST per Amendment 04. All proposals must remain valid for 90 days following submission and include quoted price, delivery schedule, technical compliance statement, and certification.

This procurement carries no small business set-aside designation and identifies no current contractors or incumbents. The solicitation does not specify an award value or budgetary ceiling, nor does it identify a quantity of parts required or specific timeline for service delivery. Performance of the work will take place in Menlo Park, California at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory. As a Department of Energy management and operating contractor subcontract, this procurement is not directly subject to Federal Acquisition Regulations; however, applicable federal laws, executive orders, and DOE-approved purchasing system requirements remain in effect. Prospective vendors must submit their complete proposal packages to Marlene Curiel, Senior Subcontract Administrator, at SLAC's facility located at 2575 Sand Hill Road, Menlo Park, California 94025.
