About this opportunity
The Department of Energy, through its contractor Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), is seeking bulk sodium sampling and analysis services for solid sodium materials stored at the Hanford Site. The contractor will be responsible for sampling and analyzing three drums of bulk sodium originally received in 1975, along with supporting sampling efforts for sodium storage tanks, with work performed primarily at the contractor's facility after drums are transported by the government. Key requirements include demonstrated experience working with metallic sodium, specialized technical personnel, development of handling and sampling plans, and analytical testing for specific elemental impurities per DOE Nuclear Energy specifications. The evaluation will use a best value trade-off process focusing on technical factors including management approach, technical approach, and past performance, each rated on a 1-5 scale. Proposals are due by 2:00 PM on October 23, 2025, with a notification of intent to propose required by October 6, 2025.
This solicitation does not utilize any set-aside designations and is open to all qualified contractors. Central Plateau Cleanup Company (CPCCo), an Amereum, Fluor, Atkins LLC joint venture, serves as the prime DOE contractor issuing this request. The contract will be structured as a Firm Fixed Price arrangement, though the specific award value has not been disclosed in the available documents. The work involves 158 sealed 208-liter drums stored in 321-liter overpack drums, each originally inerted with nitrogen blankets, and stored in the South Alkali Metal Storage Modules in Hanford's 200 West Area since 1975. The primary place of performance will be at the selected contractor's facility, with some field work including a walkdown of the Sodium Storage Facility in Hanford's 400 Area in Richland, Washington.
Notice text
Contractor employee(s) shall be responsible for independently planning, organizing, and performing a wide variety of specialized technical duties in support of the successful completion of goals and deliverables in accordance with all provisions of the Contract.
The Hanford Site has solid bulk sodium stored in drums and tanks. To support the development of processing and disposition options, sampling and analysis of the solid bulk sodium is needed.
Drums (three total) that will be transported by the Buyer to a Contractor facility for sampling were originally received at Hanford in 1975. There are a total of 158 208-Liter (55-gallon) drums (inerted and sealed), each overpacked in a 321-Liter (85-gallon) drum. Each inner drum was originally inerted with a nitrogen blanket prior to sealing and transport to the Hanford Site. The drums are stored within the South Alkali Metal Storage Modules in the Hanford 200 West Area.
