About this opportunity
The Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Health Administration (VA) is seeking to procure 38 specialized medical workstations for the VAMC Salem facility through a pre-solicitation notice. The medical carts must meet extensive technical specifications, including push-button motorized height adjustment ranging from 26.25" to 44", touchscreen display capabilities, and advanced technological features such as WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The equipment requires a sophisticated power system that weighs no more than 3 lbs, has a battery capacity exceeding 51.4AH, and can integrate with hospital IT service management systems. Key technical requirements include hospital-grade plastics, electronic medication bin locking, PIN code security access, and comprehensive warranty coverage of 6 years for mechanical and electrical components and 4 years for battery performance. The pre-solicitation notice was posted on March 19, 2025, with responses due by March 25, 2025, and the primary point of contact is John Harmsen from the VA.
The procurement is specifically set aside for Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) contractors, limiting competition to qualified veteran-owned businesses. The medical workstations will be procured under NAICS Category 339113 (Surgical Appliance and Supplies Manufacturing) and Product Service Code 6515 (Medical and Surgical Instruments, Equipment, and Supplies). While specific award value details are not provided, the procurement involves 38 medical carts with complex technical specifications that suggest a potentially significant contract value. The place of performance is the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center located in Salem, Virginia. The solicitation number is 36C24625Q0557, and interested contractors must carefully review the detailed technical requirements, which include unique features like audible and visual drawer open alarms, display rotation capabilities, and the ability to reprogram medication bin configurations.
