SECTION 232123 – HYDRONIC PUMPS
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SECTION INCLUDES
A. Circulating pumps.
B. Miscellaneous pump equipment.
1.2 RELATED SECTIONS
A. All drawings and specification sections apply to work in this section. Furnish all items, articles, materials, equipment, operations or methods that are mentioned, listed or scheduled on drawings or are in this specification including all labor, equipment, materials and miscellaneous incidentals necessary and/or required for the completion of this project. The work covered under this section of the specifications is in no way completion within itself but is supplementary to the entire specification and drawings.
1.3 REFERENCES
A. UL 778 - Motor Operated Water Pumps.
B. NFPA 70 - National Electrical Code.
1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Ensure pumps operate at specified system fluid temperatures without vapor binding and cavitation, are non-overloading in parallel or individual operation, and operate within 25 percent of midpoint of published maximum efficiency curve.
1.5 REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS
A. Products Requiring Electrical Connection: Listed and classified by UL as suitable for the purpose specified and indicated.
1.6 SCOPE
A. The work covered by this specification consists of furnishing all labor, equipment, materials and performing all operations required, for the correct and complete fabrication and installation of HVAC pumps in accordance with the applicable project specifications, drawings, codes, regulations and standards.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
1.1 2.1
CLOSE-COUPLED, IN-LINE CENTRIFUGAL PUMPS
Retain "Manufacturers" Paragraph and list of manufacturers below to require products from manufacturers listed or a comparable product from other manufacturers.
A. Manufacturers: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide products by the following:
Retain "Basis-of-Design Product" Paragraph and list of manufacturers below to identify a specific product or a comparable product from manufacturers listed. Retain option and delete insert note if manufacturer's name and model number are indicated on Drawings.
1. ITT Corporation; Bell & Gossett.
B. Description: Factory-assembled and -tested, centrifugal, close-coupled, in-line pump; designed for installation with pump and motor shafts mounted horizontally.
C. Pump Construction:
1. Body: Cast Iron or Bronze
2. Face Plate: Stainless Steel
3. Impeller: Glass Filled PPS
4. Shaft: None
5. Seal: Mechanical, Carbon or Silicon Carbide
6. Motor Bearings: Sealed Precision Steel Ball Bearing Permanently Lubricated
7. Motor Type: ODP
8. Elastomers: EPDM
D. Motor: Single speed and rigidly mounted to pump casing.
E. Maximum Working Pressure: 150 psi
F. Maximum Operating Temperature: 225°F
If Project has more than one type or configuration of close-coupled, in-line centrifugal pump, delete "Capacities and Characteristics" Paragraph below and schedule pumps on Drawings.
G. Capacities and Characteristics:
1. See Drawings.
PART 3 EXECUTION
3.1 PREPARATION
A. Verify that electric power is available and of the correct characteristics.
3.2 INSTALLATION
A. Install in accordance with manufacturer's instructions.
B. Provide access space around pumps for service. Provide no less than minimum as recommended by manufacturer.
C. Decrease from line size with long radius reducing elbows or reducing couplings. Support piping adjacent to pump such that no weight is carried on pump casings.
D. Provide line sized shut-off valve and pump suction fitting on pump suction, and line sized combination pump discharge valve on pump discharge.
E. Prior to initial start-up the pump representative shall be notified that all pumps are wired, lubricated, system filled, and ready for check test and alignment. A complete report shall be submitted to the Engineer covering the following:
1. Rotation Check
2. Base Grouted
3. Approved Piping
4. Voltage Check ______ Volts
5. Suction Pressure _____ psig
6. Discharge Pressure _____ psig
7. Actual Pump gpm _____ head_____ ft.
8. Amps L1____ L2____ L3____
9. Motor Hp _____
10. Any difficulties of operation.
K.
Complete instructions/training on operation and maintenance of the circulating pump system shall be provided to the Owner by the circulating pump representative to the satisfaction of the Owner/Engineer prior to project close-out and final payment.
