SECTION 133423 - FABRICATED STRUCTURE
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 RELATED DOCUMENTS
A. Drawings and general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and Division 01 Specification Sections, apply to this Section.
1.2 SUMMARY
A. Section includes FM approved prefabricated Flammable Material Storage Building, S1, with secondary containment, non-fire rated, non-combustible.
1.3 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS
A. Structural Performance: Building shall withstand the effects of gravity loads and the following loads and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated on the Structural Drawings and according to the 2006 International Building Code (IBC).
1. Snow Load: 20 PSF.
2. Wind Load: 90 MPH.
3. Floor Load: 500 PSF.
4. Sump Load: 1,000 PSF
1.4 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated.
B. Shop Drawings: Include plans, elevations, sections, details, and attachments to other work.
C. Samples: Exterior wall section with factory-applied color finishes.
D. Welding certificates.
E. Maintenance data.
F. Warranty: Sample of special warranty.

1.5 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Welding Qualifications: Qualify procedures and personnel according to the following:
1. AWS D1.1/D1.1M, "Structural Welding Code - Steel."
2. AWS D1.2/D1.2M, "Structural Welding Code - Aluminum."
3. AWS D1.3, "Structural Welding Code - Sheet Steel."
B. Electrical Components, Devices, and Accessories: Listed and labeled as defined in NFPA 70 by a qualified testing agency and marked for intended location and application.
C. Preinstallation Conference: Conduct conference at Project site.
1.6 WARRANTY
A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair finish or replace wall panels that fail due to materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.
1. Warranty Period: Five years from date of Substantial Completion.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MATERIALS
A. Aluminum: Alloy and temper recommended by aluminum producer and manufacturer for type of use and finish indicated, and as follows:
1. Extruded Shapes: ASTM B 221.
2. Rolled Tread Plate: ASTM B 632/B 632M, Alloy 6061-T4 or Alloy 6061-T6.
B. Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Steel Sheet: ASTM A 653/A 653M, commercial quality, G90 coating designation; mill phosphatized.
C. Galvanized, Rolled Steel Tread Plate: ASTM A 786/A 786M, rolled from steel plate complying with ASTM A 572/A 572M, Grade 55; hot-dip galvanized according to
ASTM A 123/A 123M.
D. Steel Structural Tubing: ASTM A 500, Grade B.
E. Steel Plates and Bars: ASTM A 36/A 36M.

F. Steel Shapes: ASTM A 992 GRADE 50.
G. Steel Mechanical Tubing: ASTM A 513, welded steel mechanical tubing.
H. Zinc-Coated (Galvanized) Steel: Hot-dip galvanized according to ASTM A 123.
I. Stainless-Steel Sheet: ASTM A 666, Type 304.
J. Anchorages: Anchor bolts; hot-dip galvanized according to ASTM A 153 or
ASTM F 2329.
2.2 PREFABRICATED FLAMMABLE MATERIAL STORAGE BUILDING, GENERAL
A. General: Provide a complete, integrated set of mutually dependent components that form a completely assembled, FM approved prefabricated flammable materials storage building with secondary containment, ready for installation on Project site.
Refer to Figure 1 at end of this Section.
1. Interior dimensions: 50’-0” x 10’-0” x 7’-6”H.
2. Building Style: Standard.
3. Doors: Two double swinging doors on front (5’-0” by 7’-0” overall). Refer to
Figure 1 for locations.
4. Electrical Power Service: 100-A, 480Y/277-VAC, three-phase, four-wire load center, with no fewer than four open circuits. Rainproof and ice resistant located on outside of building.
B. Lighting Fixtures: Two ceiling-mounted lighting fixtures. Provide single-pole switch mounted adjacent to door to control lighting fixture.
C. All interior electrical wiring and components to be Class I, Division I.
D. Heating and Ventilation: Forced air electric heat to maintain 50 F minimum interior temperature. Space shall be continuously ventilated at a rate of 1 cfm/sq. ft per NFPA 30. A wall mounted, exhaust fan of spark resistant construction and an explosion-proof motor shall be used. Exhaust air shall be taken from a point near a wall on one side of the room and within 12 in. of the floor, with one or more make-up inlets located on the opposite side of the room within 12 in. of the floor.
E. Accessories: Provide the following for each building:
1. Signage: Permanent D.O.T. metal flip placard with rust proof aluminum holder and stainless steel clips on each door. One pressure sensitive NFPA 704 Hazardous Rating sign on each door.
2. Two 60” W by 88” long safety yellow loading ramps rated for 275 PSF.

3. Manual emergency alarm system with alarm initiating device outside each door and local audible and visual alarm.
4. Combination shower/eyewash station with water heater and temperature control.
5. Manual Fire Alarm Pull Station rated for Class 1, Division 1 environment.
6. Two 75cd Fire Alarm Speaker/Strobes rated for Class 1, Division 1 environment.
7. Two 75cd Amber Mass Notification Strobes rated for Class 1, Division 1 environment.
8. One auxiliary interface module (for the emergency shower) rated for Class 1, Division 1 environment.
9. Two Photoelectric Smoke Detectors rated for Class 1, Division 1 environment.
10. Gas detectors rated for Class 1, Division 1 environment to continuously monitor facility.
11. One Type 10A, 80B, C fire extinguisher mounted on exterior wall between doors.
2.3 PREFABRICATED STEEL STORAGE BUILDING
A. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide CHEMLoc Model CL5212 by U.S. Chemical Storage or comparable product by one of the following:
1. Interstate Products, Inc.
2. Safe Buildings Corp.
3. A & A Sheet Metal Products
B. Structural Framework: Fabricated from steel structural or mechanical tubing members placed on 24” centers. Framework connected by welding.
C. Base/Floor Assembly: Grating and Leak Proof Spill Containment Sump Assembly consisting of 1” deep welded steel floor grating over 6” deep containment sump.
D. Wall Panel Assembly:
1. Exterior 12 gauge sheet steel. Interior heavy gauge Galvaneal sheet steel.
2. Thermal Resistance Value (R-Value): R-7
E. Flat Roof/Ceiling Assembly: Consisting of exterior roof panels, interior ceiling panels, and insulation between exterior and interior panels; sloped to drain at building perimeter.
1. Rain shields over doors.

1. Deadlock: Mortised, with lever handle and removable cylinder capable of being master keyed.
G. Finish: Finish exposed metal surfaces, including structural framework, walls, canopy, and ceiling with rust-inhibitive primer and one finish coat of industrial two part epoxy primer and urethane top coat.
1. Color: Manufacturer’s standard Bleached Bone.
2.4 FABRICATION
A. Fabricate storage building completely in factory.
B. Prewire and prepipe storage building at factory, ready for connection to electrical and water service at project site.
C. Fabricate storage building with forklift pockets in base.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 INSTALLATION
A. Install storage building according to manufacturer's written instructions.
B. Set storage building plumb and aligned. Level base plates true to plane with full bearing on concrete base furnished by others.
C. Fasten storage building securely to concrete base with expansion anchors.
D. Connect electrical power service to power distribution system according to requirements specified in Division 26 Sections.
E. Connect water service. Insulate and heat trace exposed pipes per Plumbing and Electrical drawings.
F. Adjust doors and hardware to operate smoothly, easily, properly, and without binding.
Confirm that locks engage accurately and securely without forcing or binding.
G. Lubricate hardware and other moving parts.
H. After completing installation, inspect exposed finishes and repair damaged finishes.
