SECTION 123210 – CANVAS TABLE
PART 1 - GENERAL
1.1 SUMMARY
A. Section Includes:
1. Wood-surfaced steel work tables (Canvas Table)
1.2 DEFINITIONS
A. MDF: Medium-density fiberboard.
1.3 SUBMITTALS
A. Product Data: For each type of product indicated.
B. LEED Submittals:
1. Certificates for Credit MR 7: Chain-of-custody certificates certifying that wood used to produce work table top complies with forest certification requirements.
Include evidence that manufacturer is certified for chain of custody by an FSC-accredited certification body.
a. Include statement indicating costs for each certified wood product.
2. Product Data for Credit EQ 4.4: For adhesives and composite wood products, documentation indicating that product contains no urea formaldehyde.
C. Shop Drawings: Include plans, elevations, sections, details, and attachments to other work.
D. Samples: For cabinet finishes and for each type of top material indicated.
1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE
A. Manufacturer Qualifications: A qualified manufacturer that is certified for chain of custody by an FSC-accredited certification body.
B. Forest Certification: Fabricate table top with wood and wood-based products produced from wood obtained from forests certified by an FSC-accredited certification body to comply with FSC STD-01-001, "FSC Principles and Criteria for Forest Stewardship."

C. Quality Standard: Unless otherwise indicated, comply with requirements for modular cabinets in AWI's "Architectural Woodwork Quality Standards."
1. Provide AWI Quality Certification Program certificate indicating that manufactured wood casework complies with requirements.
D. Product Designations: Drawings indicate sizes, configurations, and finish material of manufactured wood casework by referencing designated manufacturer's catalog numbers. Other manufacturers' casework of similar sizes and door and drawer configurations, of same finish material, and complying with the Specifications may be considered.
1.5 WARRANTY
A. Special Warranty: Manufacturer's standard form in which manufacturer agrees to repair or replace components of manufactured wood casework that fail in materials or workmanship within specified warranty period.
1. Failures include, but are not limited to, the following:
a. Delamination of components or other failures of glue bond.
b. Warping of components.
2. Warranty Period: Ten years from date of Substantial Completion.
PART 2 - PRODUCTS
2.1 MANUFACTURERS
A. Basis-of-Design Product: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide Bench Depot, H-Series (model HB4896) or comparable product by one of the following:
1. Wood-surfaced steel work tables:
a. A Plus Warehouse Equipment & Supply
b. Gaw Technology
c. Global; a Systemax Company.
2.2 MATERIALS, GENERAL
A. Low-Emitting Materials: Provide manufactured wood casework, including countertops, made with adhesives and composite wood products containing no urea formaldehyde.
B. Maximum Moisture Content for Lumber: 7 percent for hardwood

2.3 DESIGN, COLOR, AND FINISH
A. Design: Provide manufactured wood-surfaced steel work tables of the following design:
1. Dimensions (D x L): 48” x 96”.
2. Table top height above floor: 33 ½”.
3. Combine twelve (12) tables to create a single canvas table 16’-0” x 24’-0” as indicated on the plans. Bolt table frames together per manufacturer’s recommendations. Bolt legs to concrete floor per manufacturer’s recommendations.
4. Load capacity per 48” x 96” work table: 12,000 pounds
5. Table top material: 1 ¾” Solid Maple Butcher Block.
6. Steel frame finish: Powder Coated, color RAL 7042 Gray, 80% gloss.
B. Wood Colors and Finishes: As selected by Architect from table manufacturer's full range.
PART 3 - EXECUTION
3.1 WOOD-SURFACED STEEL WORK TABLE INSTALLATION
A. Install level, plumb, and true; shim as required, using concealed shims. Where manufactured wood casework abuts other finished work, apply filler strips and scribe for accurate fit, with fasteners concealed where practical.
3.2 INSTALLATION OF TOPS
A. Field Jointing: Where possible make in the same manner as shop jointing, using demountable elements and fasteners recommended by manufacturer. Prepare edges to be joined in field to minimize size of joints between tables. Locate field joints where approved on Shop Drawings.
1. Secure with concealed clamping devices located within 6 inches of front and back edges and at intervals not exceeding 24 inches. Tighten according to manufacturer's written instructions to exert a constant, heavy-clamping pressure at joints to ensure that individual tables will act as one.
3.3 CLEANING AND PROTECTING
A. Clean finished surfaces, touch up as required, and remove or refinish damaged or soiled areas to match original factory finish, as approved by Architect.

B. Protection: Provide 6-mil plastic or other suitable water-resistant covering over wood-surfaced steel work tables surfaces. Tape to floor at a minimum of 48 inches o.c.
Remove protection at Substantial Completion.
