TE 7.3 THANKSGIVING “BEST DECORATED DINING FACILITY” AWARDS.
TE 7.3.1 Purpose. To recognize the special culinary skills and atmosphere traditionally displayed for the special Holiday Meal for Thanksgiving.
TE 7.3.2 Procedures. The Installation Food Program Manager will put together a team of “celebrity judges”, who will evaluate all dining facilities that prepare the Traditional Thanksgiving Holiday meal. The judging will commence after the scheduled Breakfast meal and include no less than 15 minutes of the serving period of the holiday meal. If the unit supported requests the Holiday meal on a day other than Thanksgiving day, that will be the day and meal evaluated. There are two categories. They are:
TE 7.3.2.1 Best DÉCOR / NON FOOD. This category is the Non Culinary decorations that lend to the atmosphere of the event. Often accomplished by the military supported unit in partnership with the staff of the dining facility. Examples such as lighting, entrance displays, arraignment of the dining room, command participation with serving, “costumes”, or special uniforms worn by the staff, etc. Anything that is NOT culinary arts in nature that is done special for the Thanksgiving dining experience. These examples are not intended to be all inclusive.
TE 7.3.2.2 Best DÉCOR / CULINARY. As the name implies, this category includes decorations that lend to the atmosphere using food and culinary skills. From functional arraignments of fruits and other meal components to decorated cakes (prepared and decorated by assigned staff only) and displays such as ice carvings (from block ice or ice molds) and Centerpieces such as mock turkeys and hams to bread cornucopias. These examples are not intended to be all inclusive.
TE 7.3.3. Awards. The celebrity Judges will present plaques or trophies on the actual day of Thanksgiving, regardless on the actual meal served, unless the dining facility is closed on the actual day of Thanksgiving, in which case the awards will be presented during the next installation Awards ceremony.
