CDP Course Development & Delivery
Attachment 23
Mentor Program
The CDP develops and delivers training for emergency response providers from state, local, and tribal governments and when appropriate, the federal government, foreign governments, and private entities. The CDP has initiated several new opportunities for graduates to be CDP certified trainers in their own state. There are several interdisciplinary—as well as response-specific — courses that rely on this new delivery method. The Mentorship Training Program, a new nonresident training method, is available to meet the training needs of local jurisdictions.
Mentorship Training Program
The Mentorship Training Program trains, qualifies, and develops new trainers with CDP oversight.
Trainers will provide needed instruction to their peers in areas within and surrounding their jurisdictions. The MTP takes the development of new trainers one step further by providing in-class support as the new trainer delivers a training session.
This program is an opportunity for local jurisdictions to provide training at no cost. The program allows the CDP to accommodate the local jurisdiction’s schedule.
Role of Local Jurisdiction
• Make facility and safety arrangements
• Recruit students
• Pre-register student participants
• Schedule local trainers, equipment, audiovisual
• Provide or coordinate medical support as necessary
• Ensure training and audio visual equipment are available
Course Mentor Requirements
• Certified as a primary instructor for the base course
• Provides coaching/mentoring
• Acts as a facilitator/Subject Matter Expert (SME)
• Delivers the safety briefing
• Quality assurance to meet CDP standards
• Supervise the mentored course delivery (i.e., administers the evaluation components, issues certificates, etc.)
Responsibilities of the CDP
The CDP will assess the ability of the local jurisdiction to deliver the mentored course 90 days prior to training. Also, the CDP will provide the following course support:
• Instructor manual
