REQUEST FOR INFORMATION #9
FA8501‐15‐R‐0011; MUNICIPAL SOLID WASTE COLLECTION & DISPOSAL SERVICES
Q: Since January 2010, the maximum number of loads in any calendar year under the existing contract is 2,284 loads per official Houston County landfill records. The maximum number of Robins AFB loads in any calendar year for all waste streams into Houston County Landfill is 3,487 loads. The new solicitation calls for approximately 8,019 roll‐off hauls per year. This is a significant, material increase in scheduled work compared to the current contract. Should bidders assume that 8,000+ scheduled hauls must be performed annually, even if the containers are empty?
A: We are aware that there are differences between the tonnage sent to the landfill and the loads required on the bid sheet when compared to the commercial market. Due to the ebbs and flows of our daily business at Robins AFB we require a large number of cans/roll offs. Also, we strive to maintain a professional appearance so we err on the side of over estimating dump frequencies to ensure our bins do not overflow. We realize that these cans/roll offs will not be emptied each and every time they are checked as they are not required to be emptied unless they are at 80% capacity. In addition, cans/roll offs at Robins AFB may not have as much tonnage per load as a commercial market.
NOTE: It has come to my attention that the bid spreadsheet is not capatible with MAC computers. The excel bid spreadsheet is required to be completed and submitted. I will upload a PDF copy of the bid spreadsheet for awareness.
