About this file

This document outlines the insurance requirements established by the State of Colorado for vendors contracting with the Auraria Higher Education Center (AHEC) under the on-call service providers and small construction contract opportunity AHEC-27701-R. Vendors must obtain and maintain Workers' Compensation Insurance as required by state statute, Commercial General Liability Insurance with minimum limits of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $1,000,000 general aggregate, Automobile Liability Insurance with $1,000,000 combined single limits, and Professional Liability and Pollution Liability Insurance for abatement contractors with amounts dependent on the specific job. The State of Colorado and AHEC must be named as additional insureds on the Commercial General Liability Insurance policies, and all coverage must be primary over any state insurance or self-insurance programs. Vendors are required to provide certificates of insurance within seven business days of the contract's effective date or before service commencement, whichever is earlier, and must submit renewal certificates no later than 15 days prior to expiration.

All insurance policies must be issued by companies satisfactory to the State and include provisions requiring carriers to waive rights of recovery and subrogation against the State of Colorado and its agencies, institutions, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers. Cancellation or non-renewal of policies must include at least 45 days' prior written notice to the State by certified mail, except in cases of non-payment which require only 10 days' notice. The State reserves the right to request evidence of insurance compliance at any time during the contract term, with vendors required to provide satisfactory proof within 10 days of such request. For contractors qualifying as "public entities" under the Colorado Governmental Immunity Act, only liability insurance necessary to meet statutory liabilities is required, subject to state verification upon request.
