Number Question Site Response 1 Please provide an updated flow test for both locations. Due to code updates this is needed to determine if there is a need for a pump or supply tank.

Not specified The last hydrant pressures for Wanblee were 50 psi and for Kyle were 54 psi. Updated reports will be provided via amendment if available. Facility managers have not noticed nor anticipate any major changes in pressures.

2 Will the owner/AHJ allow for the project to follow NFPA-13 requirements and allowances to allow for a 3000sqft calc area instead of having sprinkler coverage in the crawlspace?

Not specified Yes. Allow for the 3,000 sf calc area if allowed by code. Reminder, there is one area under dental that contains dental ramvac and compressor. If NFPA allows this area to forego sprinkler coverage, that is acceptable.

3 Will the owner/AHJ allow for the project to follow NFPA-13 requirements and allowances to use light hazard occupancy where NFPA allows?

Not specified Yes. It is acceptable to use light hazard occupancy where NFPA allows.

4 Will the owner/AHJ allow for the project to follow NFPA-13 requirements and allowances to allow for calc area reductions where NFPA allows?

Not specified Yes. Allow for calc area reductions where NFPA allows.

5 Will the owner/AHJ allow for the project to follow NFPA-13 requirements and allowances to use plastic piping where NFPA allows?

Not specified Yes. Use PVC piping where NFPA allows for Kyle only, as Wanblee is a dry pipe system.

6 On FP-1 the note states to provide dry pipe system based on Ordinary Group 1.

Except for the basement (storage area) will you accept to change the rest of the building (crawl space, attic, and first floor) to light Hazzard as accepted in NFPA 13?

Wanblee Yes. It is acceptable where NFPA allows. There is the dental equipment and IT equipment in the basement.

7 On FP-1 it states to replace the current dry system with three separate dry zones.

At the site walk it was stated to only replace the single dry system that is in place.

Please clarify what is to be replaced and installed.

Wanblee One dry system. The drawings are incorrect, thus the reason for new shop drawings as the end of the this project.

8 Is the backflow preventer in this scope to be replaced? Wanblee Yes. We would like all new components.

9 At the site visit it was stated that they are thinking of keeping the current air compressor due to it being replaced just a little while ago. Please confirm Wanblee Air compressor will be kept.

10 Can the basement and crawl space (conditioned areas) be changed to a wet type system. This would help the delivery time of the dry system that must meet 60 seconds. The worry is the limited water supply at this facility.

Wanblee Dry system is preferred for consistency.

11 Due to the very limited access to the attic area, can access holes be cut in the ceiling to allow the pipe to be demoed out and installed?

Wanblee Yes, try to match existing access panels for consistency

12 There is currently no floor drain at the riser and fire suppression drain down location. Will a new floor drain be required to be brought into this location, or will the existing drain down procedures be acceptable without a floor drain in the area? If new floor drain is required, is there as-builts of the existing plumbing, and invert elevations of the existing drain lines to confirm adequate drop in elevation.

Wanblee No

13 Are there reflected ceiling plans of the existing facility that show all existing ceilings being hard lid as well as the minimal interior access points into the attic?

Wanblee See attachment to amendment 1

14 Are there as-built drawings of the Wanblee Facility that include the two additions to the existing facility that are not shown on the floor plans that were provided?

Wanblee See attachment to amendment 1

15 In section C. Statement of work, it states to supply a fire pump. What type of fire pump diesel or electric? If requiring electric, then is there reliable power? NFPA 20 definition of reliable power is (see highlighted area to right)

Kyle Fire pump may not be needed based on original design and allowance letter.

16 If a back up generator is installed for this facility you will need a transfer switch for the electric fire pump. These can not be added later it would be required to order them at the time of ordering the fire pump and control panel.

Kyle See response above.

17 The other option would be to spec a diesel fire pump. Kyle See response above.

18 In the supplied drawings of the Kyle Wet System on 6/13/2022 page 18, it states that the crawl space was omitted is this correct?

Kyle Veified that no fire sprinkler is in crawl space. If NFPA allows, this area can be ommitted.

19 It also states the 250 GPM hose allowance could not be added to the hydraulic calculations and still provide adequate safety factor. Is this going to be allowed?

Kyle The original design did not include the 250 GPM hose alloance. This will be allowed if all conditions remain the same.

20 Based on current water data we can determine a water storage tank may be required.

Kyle A storage tank is not required

21 It appears most partition walls are full height CMU which will require core drilling for pipe installation and sealing all penetrations. As-built drawings of the existing facility showing the crawlspace, main level, vaulted ceilings, and penthouse levels would be very helpful. Also any existing Fire Suppression, Fire Alarm, HVAC, and MEP drawings that would show the tight spaces above the ceiling would help. Are these available?

Kyle See attachment to amendment 1

22 It appears most partition walls are full height CMU which will require core drilling for pipe installation and sealing all penetrations.

Kyle Core drilling is permitted but all penetrations shall be sealed with approved fire rated material. Plans attached.

23 Are existing reflected ceiling plans available to see existing ceiling conditions including the hard lid areas?

Kyle Plans provided via amendment.

24 Sprinkler coverage will need to be provided in the upper level penthouse. Is there existing pressure data for the existing fire suppression line available?

Kyle Existing fire suppression data provided via amendment.

25 Are there as-built drawings of the Wanblee Facility that include the two additions to the existing facility that are not shown on the floor plans that were provided?

Wanblee Plans provided via amendment. The new addition has its own wet sprinkler system and that is not included on this project.

26 Are there reflected ceiling plans of the existing facility that show all existing ceilings being hard lid as well as the minimal interior access points into the attic?

Wanblee Plans provided via amendment.

27 If determined the best way to get piping and supplies into the attic, would it be acceptable to remove and reinstall exterior siding and sheathing temporarily to gain access into the numerous restricted areas of the attic?

Wanblee Removal of exterior siding and sheathing is approved, but all materials shall be replaced back to original condition.

28 There is currently no floor drain at the riser and fire suppression drain down location. Will a new floor drain be required to be brought into this location, or will the existing drain down procedures be acceptable without a floor drain in the area? If new floor drain is required, is there as-builts of the existing plumbing, and invert elevations of the existing drain lines to confirm adequate drop in elevation.

Wanblee A floor drain will need to be installed. There is an existing drain in the crawlspace. Plans attached.
