1. Please confirm that the work will be allowed to be completed in two phases as shown on sheet G0301.
The entire basement level will be vacated and available to Contractor. With that said, if chosen, there is no issue in doing the asbestos abatement in two phases but it must be remembered that a separate mobilization, air clearance, and 10 day advance notification would be required for each phase. Also, building the containment adds considerable cost to the abatement and two phases would necessitate two containments.
2. Are there any work restriction (off hours) that we need to be aware of?
Major utility shutdowns or temporary tie-ins may require off hours. Please see specification requirements as related to disruptions to functioning of medical center.
3. Some Gypsum Board Framed Walls extend from finish floor to the underside of the deck above. What is the dimension or height from finish floor to the underside of the deck?
Existing drawings indicate 14’ deck to deck. Contractor will need to verify in field.
4. The Architectural Equipment Schedule on plan sheet A0002 indicates a med gas wall box but we cannot locate any specifications or basis of design. Please provide specifics on how this headwall is to be configured.
AR-03 indicated on the equipment schedule shall be Amico Corporation; Reflection Series Artwall.
5. Specification Section 02 82 11 part 1.1.2 Extent of Work states that 25,000 square feet of asbestos containing floor time and mastic is to be abated. No abatement investigative survey has been supplied. Please confirm that we are to utilize this quantity or is there a survey that can be provided?
As illustrated on dwg. No. G0201, the total building floor area only equals 22,500 sq.ft., with only 21,978 sq.ft. being renovated. Not sure why a greater number was stated. See attached asbestos survey.
6. Specification Section 02 83 33.13 Lead Based Paint Removal and Disposal states under Part 1.1 that this section includes removing and disposal of lead-based paint at interior locations indicated in existing conditions report. We cannot locate an existing conditions report. Please advise.
No lead is known to be present.
7. The demolition drawings indicate walls and floor finishes to be demolished but do not delineate what types of walls or type of flooring is to be removed. Can as-built drawings be provided or another form identifying this missing information.
VA established a day / time for prebid site visits. Questions such as these should have been addressed at that time.
8. Window shades are indicated to be installed on the existing exterior windows but no dimensions are provided. Please advise.
Window sizes vary. Typical resident room full window unit size is 4’-2 ¼”W x 9’2 ½”. Contractor to verify all window sizes prior to ordering and indicate on shop drawings.
9. The corner guard locations are indicted on A1301 but the designation CG-1 cannot be located. Vinyl and Stainless Steel corner guards are detailed on sheet A0810. Please advise on the CG designations.
There are only vinyl corner guards. CG-1 is vinyl. Reference to stainless steel corner guards in the specification will be removed. The stainless-steel corner guard details on A0810 will also be removed per addendum.
10. Vinyl Coated Fabric Wall Coverings are specified but locations and sizes cannot be located. Please advise.
WC-1 (writable wall covering) is located in nursing alcoves (A0601) and in north wall of the conference room. Will add to finish plan with addendum.
11. We cannot locate on the drawings the Marker Boards specified in 10 11 13 Chalkboards and Marker Boards. Please advise.
Will add to equipment list and will locate on typical patient room plan with addendum. This is an 8.5x11 wall mount board.
12. No signage details or locations can be located on the drawings. Please advise.
Typical room signage, code required signage, and ADA details are located on sheet A0002. Final names and numbers to be coordinated with the VA.
13. Specification Section 11 26 00 indicates that there is a nourishment unit consisting of a stainless steel cabinet with sink and fixture and a refrigerator, ice maker and dispenser. We cannot locate this unit on the drawings. Please advise.
There is no nourishment unit. However, the other components listed are used.
14. Specification Section 12 31 00 Manufactured Metal Casework indicates that there is metal casework within the project. No metal casework can be located on the drawings. Please advise.

23. Will the government accept the use of the industry leading Procore Project Management software as the primary submittal and data tracking tool for this project? The software is compatible with the VA’s networks and is currently in use at many VA locations.
Yes; CannonDesign also uses Procore.
24. During construction in an area where the ceilings or fire suppression system will be disrupted, will NFPA 241 apply? Will the government require additional security measures beyond NFPA code such as fire watch, temporary fire alarms, adjustments to sprinkler heads, etc.
Refer to specification Section 013526 – Safety Requirements.

30. Due to current potentially significant tariffs being placed on the importation of building materials such as wood or steel by the current Presidential Executive Branch, if a tariff is placed after bid time and before award will the government consider a price escalation on a contract value for products such as steel or wood should the executive branch levee tariffs effecting such materials? Most of these materials would still have been Buy American compliant as the tariffs would increase pricing on all steel or wood materials, regardless of origin.
This is a firm fixed price. We are not going to prematurely set the Government up for Change Orders.

Please clarify question, or refer to specifications. The product is not a new product and is used in conjunction with the casework.
