About this file

This is a specification document for Section 260583 – Wiring Connections, part of project 25-388 CBI HVAC and Lighting Upgrade. The specification outlines electrical connection requirements and standards for equipment installations under this upgrade project. The scope includes electrical connections to equipment, wiring devices, conduit systems, disconnect switches, and related electrical components. The specification mandates compliance with NFPA 70 (National Electrical Code), NEMA WD 1 and WD 6 standards, and requires coordination with related sections including low-voltage electrical power conductors, conduit systems, boxes for electrical systems, wiring devices, enclosed switches, and enclosed controllers. Contractors must obtain and review shop drawings, product data, and manufacturer's wiring diagrams to determine connection locations and requirements.

The specification requires specific product standards including NEMA WD 6 cords and caps with proper color compliance per NEMA WD 1, flexible cord construction per NFPA 70 Type SO suitable for damp locations, and disconnect switches as detailed in related sections. Electrical connections must be made using flexible conduit with liquidtight connections in damp or wet locations, cord and plug connections with NEMA 6-20R configuration, and field-installed disconnect switches. Installation requirements include compliance with manufacturer's instructions, proper strain-relief clamps and fittings, terminal block jumpers, and interconnecting conduit and wiring to complete all equipment requirements. All materials, connections, and installations must meet applicable electrical codes and manufacturer specifications.
